Marie Stopes Kenya Jobs Vacancy.

We are a marketing focused, results oriented, social enterprise which uses modern management techniques to provide quality sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) to poor, marginalized communities in Kenya.

We are a senior member of a global partnership which develops effective and sustainable family planning programmes in the UK and overseas. The global partnership supports its partners with technical, financial, management, monitoring and evaluation inputs on a continuing basis.

We have been funded by European Union to implement a 60-Months intervention since 1st November
2006 titled “A comprehensive approach to reaching those most at risk from and affected by HIV and
AIDS in Kenya.”

We exist to improve quality of life and health through high quality affordable family planning and
reproductive healthcare services and products thus ensuring the individual’s fundamental right to
children by choice not chance. We are seeking dynamic, proactive and innovative qualified persons to
fill the following post in Kenya for a period of 11 months.

1. PROJECT MANAGER.
Reporting to the Director of Projects, the project manager will have the overall responsibility full-time for
the general day to day operation of the project.

Experience and Qualifications.
• University degree or relevant qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in project management• Experience at working both independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment• Ability to bring project to successful conclusion• Can conform to shifting priorities demands and timeliness through analytical and problem solving
capabilities.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills with considerable knowledge in computers• Demonstrated ability to maintain close counterpart relationships with the partner community and the
government ministries

Responsibilities• Direct and manage project implementation• Define project scope ,goals and deliverables that support business goals on collaboration with senior
management team• Liaise with project stakeholders on ongoing basis

2. YOUTH PEER EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Reporting to the Project Manager the YPE coordinator will coordinate network nationwide youth peer
educators in implementing IEC and BCC interventions focussing on HIV & AIDS, targeting the youth.
The position will be a fifteen (15) months contractThe position holder will be charged with the responsibility of managing key portfolios including developing and managing Youth Peer Education initiatives, school-based interventions etc in 38 Districts in Kenya.

S/he will coordinate the development and implementation of activities targeting these portfolios and
monitoring them to ensure that activities are implemented in a timely manner, meet program quality
criteria, and yield expected results and liaising closely with related projects and partners to optimize use
of project resources and maximize impact. In addition She / he• Develop and implement quarterly work plans and budgets to ensure smooth operation of youth peer education initiatives.
• Provide BCC technical guidance for schools programs, ensuring that projects have capacity to
implement activities.
• Develop excellent working relationships with all critical stakeholders; share information as relevant,
and build synergies between activities, partners and the different components of the project as
pertains to youth peer education initiatives• Coordinate, monitor, record, and supervise distribution of Peer education IEC/training materials, manuals, and any other educational materials concerning youth; review materials and advise on the contents and relevance• Train youth groups on Peer Education ( as peer educator or Trainer of Facilitators) , Theatre-Based techniques in Peer education (i.e. Magnet Theatre skills) and facilitate the development of appropriate messages on HIV and AIDS to be used by the youth from low literate communities• Compile monthly progress reports of individual youth groups activities as well as prepare and/or write documents, reports and questions for the record related to the different locations.

Required Skills and competencies:
• Ability to work with youth groups in HIV and AIDS and Adolescent reproductive health programs
/issues• Evidence of excellent interpersonal, facilitation and team building skills/experience required• Possess pleasant personality, with strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, sociable, approachable, confident flexible, open minded & extrovert personality• Role model, mature person who is conversant with current youth and gender related issues• Experience working with adult and youth behavior change methodologies and their application to HIV/AIDS.
• Must have conducted 40 hours training in peer education

Required Qualification and Experience may include:
• Minimum BA/BSc. degree in social sciences, education, public health/ community health
development, international development or related field• At least 2 years experience and comprehensive understanding of HIV/AIDS program design
implementation and evaluation

3. IEC / BCC COORDINATOR.
Reporting to the project manager the IEC / BCC coordinator will charged with the responsibility of
implementing the project communication strategy leading to Positive behavior change among target
groups regarding prevention, treatment and care of SRH and HIV/AIDS

Duties and Responsibilities:-
• Coordinate Information, Education & Communication and Behavior Change Communication efforts
within the ten focal points• Support monitoring and evaluation of behavior change contextual domains• Coordinate development and dissemination of IEC/BCC materials• Support Radio programming within the ten focal project points
• Support Behaviour Change Communication print programming within the ten focal project sites• Design IEC and BCC Materials.
• Coordinate field pre-testing of IEC/BCC materials/items
• Support capacity building initiatives for community health workers and youth peer educators in the
ten focal points• Support development of youth peer educators and community health workers tools for community programming• Support networking efforts within the ten project focal points• Coordinate IEC Activities.
• Monitor positive behavior Change• Conduct client Exit interviews• Coordinate Focused group discussions in collaboration with the CBHCWs

Qualifications and competencies.
• Relevant university degree• 3 years experience in implementation of communication related activities and good understanding of SRH and HIV/AIDS related issues.

4. COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH CARE WORKER COORDINATOR – 2 POSITIONS
Reporting to the project manager,will be charged with the responsibility of working with the community
health care workers within the meaning of the community strategy.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Coordinating the activities of the CBHWs• Creating a continuum of care between the community and the respective MSK facilities, the PPP referral network.
• Coordinate sociomobilsation activities with regard to creating demand for In reach SRH and HIV &
AIDS services.
• Coordinate Condom distribution activities
• Coordinate the distribution of IEC/ BCC materials in area of jurisdiction.
• Partake in IEC / BCC CampaignsQualifications and competencies.
• First degree in social sciences or equivalent qualification.
• Be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision.

5. DRIVERS – 3 POSITIONS
Reporting to the project manager,will be charged with the responsibility of He/She is to drive the team
members or any other persons requested in or outside Nairobi as required. He/She is responsible for
the maintenance and taking good care of his/her assigned vehicle, under the supervision of the Fleet
Supervisor

Duty and Responsibilities:-
• The driver needs to ensure that his driving license is valid at all times.
• Every driver is fully responsible for his/her vehicle.
• The driver has to be aware and follow driving instructions as required by the Kenya Driving
instructions.
• The driver will drive team members as instructed by an authorized team member.
• He will perform related tasks like making purchases, mail delivery, cheques delivery etc as assigned
by an authorized team member.
• He is required to give a hand to the different office departments when required.
• Ensure the correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, considering the maximum loading capacity,
proper distribution and securing of the load is adhered to.
• Adjusting the vehicle speed to the road conditions not forgetting the instruction illustrated on the
roads signs and to drive with consideration for the safety of the passengers, other road users, the
load and technical state of his car.
• Required to make the decision of whether or not to attempt to cross a difficult or unsafe section or to
continue after defect of the vehicle has been detected or to delay the travel.
• Ensure the safe parking of the vehicle at any time possible in the MSK compound or wherever the
vehicle maybe by ensuring all safety precaution like putting on the alarm of the vehicle at night, or
during breaks and when it is not in use.
• The above-mentioned responsibilities are not exhaustive of what could be required, therefore the
driver should bind himself/herself to them only.

Qualifications and competencies:
Education – Primary or Secondary School certificate
Professional – Have a valid licence for cars are required
Have some knowledge in the mechanical work of vehicles Have good knowledge of Nairobi and others parts of Kenya would be Added advantage Experience – 2 years and above Personal Attributes – Honest, hard working, team player and good communications skills.
