Programme Officer

• Participate in the definition of FAO’s Plans of Action in Somalia, and longer term development strategies.
• Participate on behalf of FAO in the development of UN inter-agency plans and strategies.
• Support project managers in reviewing project proposals, ensuring links with the overall objectives as outlined in the FAO-Somalia’s strategic and action plans.
• Research and anticipate key donor strategies and regulations with the aim of identifying strategic entry points for FAO.
• Contribute to developing a strategy and implementation plan for resource mobilization to encourage donor interests and increase funding.
• Contribute to efforts to develop monitoring tools, for use across all projects, covering implementation, management, and achievement of project and programme results.
• Contribute to the organization of regular internal and external monitoring for the various programmes.
• Identify and collect statistics on programme performance for the purpose of reporting on projects grouped by significant common features, and facilitate presentation on challenges, recommendations for improvement and solutions to problems.
• Keep a record of lessons learned and best practices from individual projects or office units, as appropriate.
• Support project and programme evaluations, including drafting terms of reference, participating in the selection of evaluators, identifying and assembling documentation, etc.
• Contribute to organizing the feedback of these evaluations and ensure recommendations are put in action.
• In collaboration with the FAO Communications Officer and other contributors, work on developing consolidated quarterly and annual reports.
• Participate in inter-agency, steering committee, partners and stakeholders and donor meetings as required; maintain effective working relationships, sustain interests and cooperation.
• Maintain and develop an updated network among local and international NGOs, UN agencies and local authorities.
• Perform any other related duty as required.
