ICAP Kenya Jobs - Psychosocial Support Officer and Pharmacist Careers

International Centre for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) - Kenya of Columbia University are working with local partners in partnership with the Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health and Sanitation to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at Provincial, District hospital and Health Center facilities.

This program is part of an US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC). Applications are invited for the following positions.

Both positions will be based in Kisumu (Nyanza).

Adherence and Psychosocial Support (APS) Officer

Reporting to the APS Advisor, the APS Officer will provide technical support in the planning and implementation of adherence and psychosocial support activities within ICAP-supported facilities in collaboration with the Ministries of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the training of HCW and PLHIV in adherence support using the national training curriculum Coordinate the Peer Education Program Strengthen HIV community mobilization activities and linkages with community-based organizations Assist in defaulter tracing Degree in Social Sciences or equivalentMinimum 4 year’s relevant experience Familiarity with district-level health systemsFamiliarity with HIV community programs including Peer Education Pharmacist

Reporting to the Program Director, the Pharmacist will provide technical assistance to strengthen drug logistics systems, drug inventory management, distribution and logistics management information system for pharmacy commodities at ICAP supported facilities

Key Responsibilities:

To formulate procedures and guidelines on forecasting, storage and stock control management and procurement and distribution of drugs at central level, in line with national policiesTo oversee pharmaceutical supply management, including needs estimation, drugs quantification, procurement and distribution systems managementTo ensure adequate, reliable supply of ARVs, OI drugs and commodities at sitesTo assist sites with the development of site specific SOPs for ART pharmacy To strengthen logistics management information systems for pharmacy commodities at facilities.To provide supportive supervision and mentoring of pharmacy personnelTo ensure reliable supplies of condoms at pharmaciesTo provide regular updates to program on ARV and OI use in sites to inform planning for need and improvement of quality of care.Increase quality of monitoring and evaluation tools for the pharmacyBachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy Registration with the pharmacy and poisons boardTraining in ART and effective commodity managementAt least 3 years’ experience in a HIV ProgramFamiliarity with Ministry of Health systems Application Procedure
