Technical Assistant/Project Officer

Greater Horn of Africa Rainwater Partnership (GHARP) GHAGHARP/KRA is a non-profit organisation whose vision is that all people have access to safe, reliable and sustainable water supplies for productive uses. KRA aims to improve water supply, food security, and environmental sustainability through rainwater harvesting and management systems and so contribute to poverty reduction.
Greater Horn of Africa Rainwater Partnership (GHARP)/Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA)

GHARP/KRA Secretariat is seeking to recruit a suitable and qualified candidate to fill the position of Technical Assistant/Project Officer. This is a field-based post at one of the project sites in semi-arid districts of Kenya. The candidate shall devote 100% of his/her time to the project implementation activities among related community support services.

Responsibilities:

The following are the responsibilities of the Technical Assistant/Project Officer

• Community mobilization and liaison with local stakeholders/partners;
• Preparation of BoQs and procurement of construction material;
• Supervision of construction works among other project activities;
• Providing technical assistance to target communities/groups;
• Community capacity building and training on project components;
• Logistical support for field activities including monitoring and evaluation;
• Resource mobilization and fundraising i.e. development of project proposals;
• Representing KRA in all project related meetings; and
• Documentation and reporting - presenting monthly field reports;

Professional Qualifications:

Diploma/Degree in Water related Engineering field

Relevant Experience:

Minimum 4 years (Diploma) and 2 years (Degree) with an NGO working in rural community development projects in semi-arid environments.

Key skills:

• Ability to work with gender-diverse rural communities
• Information and communication technology (ICT)
• Analytical and participatory problem assessment and decision-making process
• Ability to work under minimum supervision
