Corporate Affairs Advisor Vacancy Kenya

Our client, a large independent Oil & Gas exploration company with interests across many continents is recruiting a Corporate Affairs Advisor.

Reporting operationally to the General Manager, Kenya and functionally to the Regional External Affairs Manager, South and East Africa.

Responsibilities

* Responsible and accountable for developing and delivering targeted communications and engagement strategies and plans in support of the company’s business objectives.
* Identify stakeholders across key audience groups including government / authorities, media, industry, partners and national NGOs.
* Deliver appropriate and targeted external and internal communications activities and provide communications support to the community relations team.
* Support the General Manager and Operations Manager with a range of key engagements from government meetings to external leveraging opportunities such as conferences and functions.
* Develop communications collateral in support of planned engagement activities.
* While focused on supporting the immediate business requirements, the incumbent must also account for long term development and operational requirements.
* Develop media strategies and act as the spokesperson representing the company’s views.
* The incumbent will play a critical role in building and maintaining the company’s reputation as an operator of choice.

Qualification and Experience:

The successful candidate will hold a degree in communications, political science or public relations with 10 years experience in a corporate affairs role in East Africa.

They would have previous experience in developing and structuring a fully functioning team from the outset, including establishing appropriate management processes and systems.

Furthermore, they will demonstrate experience in handling complex and sensitive business issues with media and interacting with ethnically diverse impacted groups and African based NGO groups.

An ability to interact with a wide variety of ethnic groups at varying levels of seniority will be important, as will a sound understanding of the regional and national government structures and workings.

The candidate should also have an ability to extract meaningful information from the business in a timely fashion to inform engagement strategies and be able to translate strategy into practical application. Previous experience in the energy sector would be desirable.
