Senior Electro Mechanical Engineer

Primary Purpose of Position:

My Client is currently seeking a Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join its Nairobi Team within its Africa Division. The Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer will be part of a large team responsible for engineering and concept design of hydraulic turbine and associated equipment and construction supervision for hydroelectric power projects from pre-feasibility level phase through construction closeout. This includes concept design and documentation required for project design and study (tender documents and reports), review of manufacturer's design, factory inspection, and supervision of installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

o Prepare concept design and drawings
o Prepare tender documentation, including performance specifications and all technical schedules
o Manage the tendering process including tender supervision and tender evaluation
o Review manufacturer's design, specifications and drawings
o Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
o Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, and bridges
o Supervise installation of electrical, electronic and mechanical parts and hardware in power houses
o Oversee testing, commissioning, and start-up of completed projects
o Prepare any other assigned reports, studies or analysis for project
o Strictly adhere to Business Management System (BMS)

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

o A Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college,
o Minimum 7 years of practical experience and/or proven knowledge in engineering, inspection and commissioning of manufacturing, installation and commissioning hydraulic turbine and associated equipment for hydroelectric power stations,
o Knowledge of basic project management,
o Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment,
o Professional delivery and appearance to ensure image is maintained,
o Ability to write effectively in English to furnish reports and to prepare business development materials including proposals
o Demonstrated ability to successfully undertake and deliver client's TOR, and
o Courteous and business orientated manner when communicating with stakeholders to foster and promote good working relations
o Co-operative and flexible work style to work in a team environment
o Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge
o Able to apply new knowledge
o Able to work under pressure
