MEA VAT/GST Operations Leader Job

Corporate Finance & Operating ComponentsReporting to the Global VAT/GST Operations Leader, this position will be responsible for:
- Developing a GE ‘in-house’ VAT/GST Operations team for the Middle East and Africa (“MEA”) region, delivering VAT/GST reporting and related services to GE businesses in the region
- Ensuring that all VAT/GST returns and associated statistical returns for client businesses are filed and paid on time
- Driving the GEII Compliance Initiative for VAT/GST Operations across the MEA region
- Working closely with Global Growth and Operations (GGO) for MEA to ensure VAT/GST Operations are linked to the initiative and consistent in approach
- Planning a programme of audits of client business VAT/GST return processes to ensure accuracy of filings
- Working with MEA VAT/GST Leader to resolve any inaccuracies identified during return cycle or audit programme, including the coordination of error correction submissions to tax authorities
- To be the primary contact point between the tax authorities and client business, providing audit support during inspections and audits by the tax authorities
- Provide feedback to client businesses on issues identified during the VAT/GST return process and progress to be made to drive up standards in VAT/GST reporting
- Actively communicating the scope of VAT/GST Reporting and related services offered by VAT/GST Operations Team
- Maintenance of GE legal entities on the GE Corporate Global VAT/GST Controllership Platform and E-Compliance tool
- Training GE finance teams in the region on the use of the on-line tools and assisting with the implementation of new VAT/GST return tools
- Managing and developing the pricing strategy for VAT/GST Operations service offerings and ensuring SLAs are in place for all services
- Working with other Global VAT/GST Operations teams to share best practise and lessons learned in dealing with GE businesses that have VAT/GST obligations in multiple jurisdictions
- Working with the VAT/GST Operations Process Leader and MEA VAT/GST Leader to develop the GE Corporate Global VAT/GST Controllership Platform where required in the region and to assist with the roll-out of the application - Professional accounting qualification or equivalent with broad finance and VAT/GST experience OR experienced VAT/GST professional with at least 8 years working experience
- Good working knowledge of VAT/GST required.
- Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal) effectively
- Willingness to travel regularly within and out of the region on as needs basis - Proven analytical skills
