Technical Advisor Education and Child Protection



Key Responsibilities



· Assess Education and Child Protection technical needs, identify appropriate ways to provide assistance and support



· Coordinate and ensure overall quality that helps senior staff achieve project outcomes



· Assist the Program Manager troubleshoot complex problems related to the sectors and coordinate support resources that can contribute to the solutions



· Ensure that the LWF Kenya-Djibouti-Somalia Education and Child Protection projects benefit from lessons learned, promising practices, and resources developed globally



· Work with senior sector staff in Area Programs to help analyze and reflect on monitoring and evaluation data to continually inform and refine the overall projects’ design



· Work with the Program Manager to ensure distribution of information about project achievements, lessons learned, and resources developed across the program



· Assist in the recruitment of project staff and identify human resources to fill short term gaps



· Support the Program Manager with identification of and communication with key donors and collaborate to secure funding for programs, including proposal development



· Assist to respond to funding opportunities from public and private donors



· Liaise and collaborate with relevant Government Ministries, county and national stakeholders as well as to participate in relevant sector working groups and forums



· To assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Program Manager or his/her designate



Qualifications, Experience and Competencies




  • Degree in Education, Social Science degree or a related discipline

  • Practical work experience from at least one of the following: (1) Education in Emergencies (2) Child Protection

  • Documented formal additional training (one or several) in at least one of the key areas (Education (preferably Education in Emergencies), Child Protection)

  • Knowledge of relevant sectoral humanitarian and national standards

  • Strong computer skills in basic standardized software (Excel, Word, PDF)

  • Experience of work within or in relation with Government ministries and/or offices is an advantage


  • At least 4 years of progressive experience Education programs for refugees or rural communities. Experience gained within an International Humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage


  • High level of motivation, integrity, commitment and professional responsibility


  • Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place
