JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Logistics Officer, the Assistant Logistic Officer-Storekeeper coordinates warehousing practices i.e. receipts, storage and issuing of materials at the assigned storage facility while adhering to the Logistics Standard Operating Procedures. The Assistant Logistic Officer-Storekeeper has overall responsibility of managing inventories of the assigned stores.
II: RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
R 1: Warehouse Management and Inventory Control.
1.1 In charge of receipts, storage, and issuance of items/commodities as per Logistics Standard Operating Procedures.
1.2 Conduct Inspection of warehouses, and report any repair/maintenance and fumigation needs to the supervisor.
1.3 Ensure timely offloading of all supplied food and non-food items at the warehouses and update the Logistics Coordination office.
1.4 In charge of receiving and offloading of all CARE sector materials and contacting the user sector to verify goods before receiving them.
1.5 Conduct monthly physical count of all food and non-food commodities in the warehouses and maintain CARE assets inventory for each sector.
1.6 Ensure proper security of the warehouses by keeping warehouse keys in safe custody.
1.7 Ensure cleanliness of the warehouse by supervising the cleaners
R 2: Record keeping and report writing.
2.1 Maintaining ledger records and stock/bin cards.
2.2 Prepare daily reports of incoming and outgoing items to the warehouse.
2.3 Prepare precise, analytical and accurate weekly, monthly and yearly stock reports.
2.4 Compile and prepare internal weekly stock sector update and submit to the supervisor.
R 3: Supervision and staff development.
3.1 Supervise all the stores refugee incentive workers.
3.2 Ensure that warehousing duties are allocated to various staff under him/her.
3.3 Recommend the motivation of the hard working staff within the sector.
3.4 Appraise staff reporting to him/her as required.
3.5 Manage staff disciplinary and grievance issues.

Spending Authority: N/A
Supervision: supervises refugee community workers loaders, store clerks and store
cleaners).
Decision Making: Makes normal decisions relating to effective performance of responsibilities
IV: CONTACTS/ KEY RELATIONS
External: UNHCR, implementing partners, vendors, drivers delivering and loading materials,
Internal: All CARE staff.
VI: WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is based in Dadaab with work allocations in Hagadera camp as well as any other extension camps and program sites. This is a none-family working station. Hot weather is prevalent throughout the year with limited basic amenities. Road movement between duty station and Garissa as well as inter-camp movement must be under police escort (scheduled convoys), with strict adherence to security rules at all times. It is a six days work station with a compensatory time off according to CTO policy.
The incumbent shall reside in the CARE compound while executing official duties and shall obey and adhere to residential compound regulations.
VII: QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Education: Diploma in Stores management & Stock Control/Diploma in Purchasing and supplies Management/ Diploma in Logistics Management.
Experience: 2 years working experience in a busy logistics store preferably with an international NGO
Certificate: Microsoft office
Competencies
· Sound background in inventory management, record keeping and experience in commodity reconciliation
· Good working knowledge of Logistics procedures, systems
· Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment
· Flexibility and willing to adapt to changing environment
· Good communication and writing skills.
· Good Organizational and Planning skills
