Shop Manager

A rare and exciting opportunity for a vibrant and motivated individual to join the team at an owner-run luxury safari lodge in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.


A  professional Shop Manager is required who:

  • Appreciates beautiful things

  • Communicates well both verbally and in writing

  • Has strong administrative skills

The successful candidate’s primary role will be ensuring the smooth operation of the Mara Safari Shop, managing a team of Maasai artisans at the Maasai Beading Studio and engaging with guests in a warm and professional manner.

Day to day responsibilities would include



  • Interacting, story  telling and assisting guests with shop related needs

  • Drive sales to maximize profits and minimize costs

  • Handling all reporting and data capturing relating to sales

  • Constantly updating the shop merchandising

  • Managing stock levels, pricing and end of month stock take

  • Ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of both shop & studio

  • Driving production, innovation and creativity in the Maasai Beading Studio

  • Managing the of Maasai artisans working in the studio


There are no formal qualification requirements, though candidates with the following will be at a distinct advantage:


  • Experience in a similar retail environment

  • A track record of excellent customer service

  • The ability to think creatively and act proactively


Remuneration will be market-related and dependent on experience. 



This is a full-time position with leave cycles of 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off. 



The candidate must be willing to live in the Maasai Mara .
