Head of Sales and Marketing – Hospitality
Job Role: This position is accountable for managing the total sales & marketing efforts of the Presidential, Deluxe and Executive Suits
Developing and implementing the sales & marketing strategy for the Lodge in line with the company objectives;
The position is strongly involved with building and maintaining key customer relationships and takes an active role the Lodge brand ambassador and being involved at various trade shows, conferences and seminars
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Preparing an efficient and effective Sales & Marketing strategy and yearly business plan, working closely with the Managing Directors;
- Directing, managing and coordinating the implantation of the sales & marketing strategy developed – for both the local and international markets;
- Provide leadership in the area of Sales – directing, managing and coordinating the sales team for the lodge;
- Proactive approach to the role, including monthly updates to the annual sales and marketing strategy as required including liaison with the lodge, finance and other functions of the company;
- Inventory and yield management are key areas of responsibility for this position; the role will include guiding the team on issues concerning pricing, branding, and product enhancements for certain market segments, etc. and ensuring all sales reporting systems are efficient, relevant and coordinated;
- Develop and motivate staff, consistent with the lodge needs through implementation of approved personnel programs and execution of succession planning;
- Conduct Sales & Reservations team performance appraisals; monthly and quarterly in line with company approved policies & procedures; Ensure superior sales service delivery to all customers;
- Identifies key customers / market segments, and establishes goals for existing and new key accounts through the establishment of detailed action plans for each segment, including the corporate market.
- Manage customer relationship and respond to customer reviews and feedback in a timely and professional manner;
- Conduct site inspections of the property with prospective and existing clients.
- Achieves budgeted room rate quotas and average rates set out in the yearly business plan for the lodge;
- Provide guidance in preparation of monthly reports, backlog, tracking of account room nights in the group, tour and leisure market segments, and guides the development of customer action plans.
- Coordinate the lodge’s participation in local and international campaigns.
- Knowledgeable about the competitive set and will be on top of market share statistics to maintain the lodge’s competitive edge.
- Efficiently manages the Sales Budget.
- Through own behavior, emphasizes Brand Selling and lead referral.
- Strongly involved in business community and trade organizations with a focus on securing incremental business and enhancing the position of the lodge in the market.
- Achieve best rates for the lodge through active negotiations with sales and marketing related suppliers.
- Lead the sales meetings, reporting on activities, market trends and business leads, etc. -weekly meetings with Lodge & Finance Management teams, the Head of Department & Directors; daily meetings with the Sales & Reservations team;
- Perform related duties and special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications;
- 2 to 5 years of luxury hospitality experience, at least 1 of which have been managing sales personnel and leading sales and marketing activities.
- Formal University / College education, preference given to those with a sales & marketing related degree with a focus on the hospitality / travel & tourism space.
- Proven organizational and communication skills – Micros Fidelio literacy an asset, along with working knowledge of MS Office suite of programs.
- Understanding of the local & international markets, along with strong trade networks in the local & international markets are essential.
- Ability to prioritize, organize work assignments and follow up.
- Ability to execute a multitude of tasks on a timely basis.
- Ability to promote positive relationships with guests and staff.
- Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guests and lodge data
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision as well as cohesively in a team.
- Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems with good judgment.
- Outstanding writing and oral communication skills; ability to interface confidently with high profile customers and media
