Position Title: Panel Beater / Spray Painter

Job Purpose: Panel Beater / Spray Painter for repair, replace, fabrication and paint of vehicles and equipment in Mogadishu. 

Experienced in using all types of body work tools, fabrication and spray painting equipment

Areas of Responsibility:

• Removing existing paint and corrosion


• Refitting new/repaired panels


• Repairing dents, holes or corroded areas using a compound filler or fiber glass or replacing with welded panels


• Spray coatings (such as paint, lacquer, enamel, silver or copper solutions) onto manufactured products to provide finished surfaces


• Fabrication work for all types of metals


• Removal and repair of panels


• Repairing damaged bodywork using traditional dolly and hammer or more modern techniques


• Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage


• Deciding whether to repair or replace bodywork


• Removing damaged panels


• Stripping and refitting trim and panel interior


• Masking off the parts of the vehicle which are not going to be resprayed


• Providing quotations and estimations


• Refit of mechanical and electrical trim


• Repair of paint defects and refinishing


• Prepare surfaces to be coated by using various methods (abrasive blasting, high pressure water washing or power wire brushing) to remove grease, dirt and rust


• Mix chemicals to meet the requirements of the customer


• Rub down painted items between coats


• Ensures Quality Control of completed work


• Ensures proper Hazmat procedures of materials


• Upholds high Health and Safety standards for flamable materials

Qualification and specialist skills:

• Diploma / Higher Certification in MIG, TIG, Gas, ARC. Welding skills required


• Fully qualified painter with panel beating experience
