Catholic Relief Services –USCCB is the official agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for relief and development overseas. CRS supports programs in over 100 countries and works through local partners.

We are seeking suitable persons to fill the following position.

All candidates require technical competencies in the respective areas, excellent computer skills, oral and written communication skills, willingness to travel to the field frequently and a commitment to work with and support faith based partners of CRS many of whom are Catholic institutions.

Job Title: ICT Officer- Helpdesk Support
Ref.2010/34
Location: Nairobi

Purpose: Provide day-to-day end IT support to the CRS Kenya and East Africa Regional offices. Other tasks besides end user support are routine maintenance and infrastructure support.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Attend and resolve issues reported through the helpdesk system or e-mail and log all help desk interactions.Diagnosing hardware and software problems and be available on-call when needed.Installing/configuring new computers/telephones.Repairing/upgrading PC hardware, software, scanners and printersMaintaining inventory of equipment and supplies (cables, adapters, etc.)Undertake the day to day operation of backup systems including rotation of backup tapes.Supervise routine preventative maintenance on IT systems.Building and installing cables, running plant cabling.Researching, learning, and evaluating new software and documenting systems.Perform daily backups on identified CRS resources and submit the reports to supervisorPrepare activity reportsIdentify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.Maintain and control antivirus/ antimalware/antispyware processesKeep up to date with current trends in the IT industry.Key working relationships

Internal: Regional Information System Analyst, Regional office and MIT, Procurement Officer, other staff as users.

External: Internet service providers, IT Contractors, IT Vendors

Required Qualifications/skills

Bachelor’s degree in IT /computer ScienceMCDST/MCST certificationExperience in MacAfee antivirus productsKnowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutionsOverall knowledge of software and hardware firewallsKnowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and hosted servicesBasic network troubleshooting skillsAbility to work with minimal supervision in a multicultural environment and cope well under pressure.Excellent oral and written communication skillsSpirit of service, Integrity and principled stewardshipInterested in Learning and innovationWritten applications indicating the reference number of position applied for and CV including day-time contact phone numbers, as well as names and contact information of three references should reach the below mentioned by December 17, 2010
