Job Title: Nutrition CoordinatorDepartment: Health and Nutrition
Reports To: Health and Nutrition Manager
Contract period: 10 months with a possibility of extensionFH/Kenya (Food for the Hungry), a Christian relief and development agency, is looking for a Nutrition Coordinator to coordinate its nutrition program involving supporting MOPHS/MOMS in scaling up of High impact nutrition intervention in Marsabit. This is a middle management position responsible for leadership in the implementation of nutrition programming activities and requires working closely with MOPHS/MOMS and UNICEF.The nutrition coordinator will spearhead the nutrition activities of FH Kenya in compliance with the program strategy and national nutrition guidelines; S/he is expected to provide technical support and advice on nutrition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the followingEnsure scale up of high impact nutrition intervention in the larger Marsabit district in close collaboration with MoPHS/MOMS and other key partners, including management of acute malnutrition conform to internationally accepted standards and country guidelines.Provide technical support and supervision on nutrition activities to field and facility staffs implementing nutrition program in the larger Marsabit Districts Support DMOH and DNO to ensure that District nutrition coordination meeting are conducted monthly, minutes generated and action points implemented by all stakeholders.Conduct on-job trainings for facility health workers and community health workers at their respective working stations.Support DNO and ensure establishment and strengthening of nutrition monitoring scheduled are developed and harmonized by all the stakeholders in the district.Ensure timely and accurate collection and analysis of data from field/health facilities are done and maintain a nutrition data base for the program.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of nutrition activities by all the health facilities monthlyRepresent FH/Kenya at appropriate nutrition meetingsSubmit relevant reports and documentation to project manager and the DNO.Participate in district nutrition surveysCarry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.First Degree (Bachelors) in Nutrition.Demonstrate strong knowledge in management of acute malnutrition in ASAL region3-5 years experience in coordination and management of acute malnutrition.should be a strong team player and have ability to manage teamStrong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken EnglishMust be computer literate with excellent skills in Excel, MS Word.Have knowledge of SMART nutrition survey methodologyInterested and qualified candidates should send their applications, updated CV with three referees, day telephone contacts to : FH Kenya, P.O Box 14978 – 00800 or email address hr_fhkenya@fh.orgShortlisting will be done as applications come in.
