Alios Finance is a pan-african specialised finance company with a mix of prestigious African and European investors. We target SMEs, multinationals and individuals with products such as leasing, investment loans and consumer finance. Having been present in Africa since 1956, our current operations are in Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Tunisia with a combined portfolio across Africa of USD 250m.
We have ambitious expansion plans, particularly into English speaking Africa, as evidenced by the recent opening of our subsidiaries in Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya. Indeed, we have recently relocated our Head Office from Tunis, Tunisia, to Nairobi, Kenya.
To strengthen our management team we are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and dynamic professional to fill the position of GROUP CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER.
ROLE SUMMARY
Based in the headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, you will direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization across Africa; provide leadership and coordinate the accounting, reporting, risk and budgeting efforts of the company. You will manage the finance department at holding level, ensuring effective and efficient management of resources. The position requires leadership and coaching through daily interaction with the Finance and Admin Managers as well as Chief Accountants of the Operating companies. You will be part of the Management Team of the Group and Secretary to the Board of Alios Finance SA (the holding company).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Providing leadership in financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all financial information. Set standards for gathering and reporting based on international financial reporting standards and taking into consideration the reporting requirements of each country we operate in; coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and monthly information reports. Coordinate the establishment of the semi-annual and annual consolidated accounts in close cooperation with the external auditors.
2. Coordinate all funding efforts of the group. To this effect, prepare and maintain the business plan of the group, maintain relations with all existing and potential future lenders, and provide relevant information reporting to the international lenders according to their requirements.
3. Overall responsibility for the budgeting process of the company, which includes co-ordinating the preparation and monitoring.
4. Responsible for cash and treasury management at group level including analysis of accounts, cash flow, cost controls, and expenses and the provision of guidance to the subsidiaries on the same. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
5. Provide guidance and consultative support to the finance managers in the subsidiaries in planning, financial and management information analyses, reporting, etc.
6. Active participation in the implementation of IT system, taking charge of the accounting aspects of the system.
7. Responsible for asset and liabilities management. Chair the asset and liabilities committee at group level. Provide regular asset and liabilities reports to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of the Group.
8. Responsible for admin, accounting, statutory & legal compliance of the holding companies of the Group in Nairobi, Tunis and Paris.
9. Responsible for effective group tax planning.
10. Hierarchically responsable for Finance Team at holding level (4 people). Functionally responsible for Finance Managers at the subsidiary level.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bilingual in English and French. You will be expected to be fluent in both languages to facilitate in-depth and professional interactions with funders, shareholders and other stakeholders.
2. A proven track record in a senior management position in emerging markets, preferably in Africa and in a financial institution. Experience in both French speaking and English speaking Africa would be a big plus. Another big plus will be experience in lease finance management.
3. A masters degree in finance and/or accounting. A professional accounting qualification (ACA, CFA, ACCA, CPA, etc) would be a big plus.
4. Experience in strategic planning and execution and systems development and implementation. Experience of setting standards and enforcing these in a multi-country environment; general knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
5. Excellent professional written and verbal communication, interpersonal and team working skills. Ability to coach and motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
6. Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines; willingness to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel frequently and at short notice.
7. Down to earth, hands-on attitude.
8. Proven competence to work in a multicultural environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Work will require frequent overnight travel.
