Oxfam GB in the Horn, East and Central Africa region (HECA) work in 10 countries including South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. We are working in contexts of ongoing severe conflict, drought and floods characterised by large operational programmes. The humanitarian team at Oxfam seeks to ensure that people affected by conflict and disasters receive timely and appropriate humanitarian relief, as well as protection necessary to preserve life, security and dignity. Through planning, close relationships and involvement in programmes, the logistics and administration function support the humanitarian activities; facilitate the transition to development and its implementation within professional standards.
The role
We are looking for a Regional Logistics and Administration Coordinator who will play a key role in strategy development and implementation in the region. The coordinator will be responsible for the facilitation and implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures, supporting capacity building He/she will manage and deliver administrative support services to facilitate the effective implementation of HECA RC overall objectives.
The person
You will have significant experience in logistics, administration and coordination with demonstrable experience as a senior strategic manager. In addition you will have experience of various countries and cultural contexts, with extensive practical field experience in both emergencies and development contexts. You will have project management, training and coaching skills and proven experience in supply chain management, vehicle management and administration management. In addition you will a good knowledge of donor requirements. You will have good interpersonal, people and finance management skills.
You will need to work well under pressure, be a flexible team player, and be able and willing to undertake extensive travel and to be immediately deployed to difficult environments when emergencies occur. You will have a commitment to Oxfam’s values with the ability to integrate gender at all levels of analysis and programme delivery.
