Vacancies in the Refugee Assistance Program in Dadaab, North Eastern Kenya

CARE International in Kenya is looking for suitable individuals to fill the following positions within its Refugee Assistance Program in Dadaab, North Eastern Kenya.

Dadaab is a non- family duty station.

1. Housekeeper
Ref: HK/2/3/11

Reporting to the Administration Officer, the Housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring general compound cleanliness, managing of the residential mini-store for cleaning and accommodation items, management of compound residential facilities and items.

The position holder will liaise with the compound plumber and electrician to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services. He/she will manage a wide range of services including overseeing laundry services for both visitors and CARE staff in the compounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervising a team of workers responsible for maintaining compound cleanlinessManaging leave Maintaining and updating records of mini-stores for keeping cleaning and linenEnsuring all lighting systems are working in the compoundCreating system for efficient and effective management of visitorsOrientate visitors on all compound utilities, facilities and rulesEnsuring that residential rooms are clean and safeRequired qualifications and experience
Diploma in housekeeping from a recognized institutionMust have Kenya Certificate of Secondary education certificate with a minimum of C-Two years of progressive work experience in a similar position in a reputable organizationProficient in Microsoft SuiteGood organizational and management skillsAbility to work in a team environment with staff from diverse culturesAbility to work well under pressureAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamGood customer service skillsGood Leadership and organizational skillsMust be fluent in both written and spoken English & Swahili languages2. Gender Project Officer
Ref: GPO/2/3/11

Reporting to the Gender and Development Coordinator, the Gender Project Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and documenting all Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) activities in one of the refugee camps.

The incumbent will supervise the Assistant Gender Project Officer and work closely with other RAP sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop an accurate database on Gender Based Violence (GBV) incidents and participate in developing appropriate response for their managementProvide support to SGBV survivors to reconstruct their lives through interagency referrals including counseling services, livelihood activities, vocational training, protection and emergency medical aidInitiate anti-SGBV prevention activities to reduce reported incidencesConduct regular block and home visits to assess and verify SGBV casesDevelop innovative and sustainable anti Female Genital Cut (FGC)strategies and engage the refugee community to support their implementationPrepare project progress reports and submit to the sector coordinator as per set deadlinesRequired Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Law or Political Science or Sociology or Development studiesPost graduate diploma in Gender or Human Rights/Refugee Studies is an added advantage Minimum of three years work experience in SGBV and related gender mainstreaming programs is a requirementExperience working in displaced populations is an added advantageProficient in Microsoft suiteGood project reporting writing skillsGood facilitation/training skillsExcellent team building and networking abilitiesAbility to work in multicultural setting is an asset Qualified candidates are invited to send their application letters indicating the reference numbers on the subject field, together with a detailed C.V with three professional referees and daytime telephone contacts by 12th March 2011 to The Human Resources & Development Manager, CARE International in Kenya.
