Our Client is in the Hospitality Industry, currently recruiting an Executive Housekeeper.

Summary:

Supervises all housekeeping employees, has the authority to hire or discharge, plans and assigns work assignments, give training for newly recruited employees, audit and inspects housekeeping personal work assignment and requisition supplies. Take care of the budget and budget controlling for the department.

Duties:

Supervises all housekeeping employees, hires new employees as needed, discharges employees when necessary and take disciplinary actions when policies are not followed. Evaluates employees in order to upgrade them when openings arise.Plans the work for the housekeeping department and distributes assignments accordingly. Assigns regular duties and special duties for housekeeping staff. Schedules employees and assigns extra days off according to occupancy forecast. Maintains a time log book of all employees within the department.Recruit and train new employees. Assigns new employees to work with experienced help. Checks on the work of these employees occasionally and observes the report made by the supervisors.Approves all supply requisitions, such as those for spreads and bathroom rugs. Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire propertyEnsure that rooms are made as per company standard.Prepare Annual Housekeeping Budget.Maintain par stock of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, linen and uniform.Organize inventories with Accounts and General Store for linen, uniform and fixed assets.Pay particular attention while organizing pest eradication activities.Develop and implement Housekeeping systems and proceduresPrepare reports for management information.Assist Purchase department in selecting suppliers for items related to Housekeeping.Plan, control and supervise Horticultural activities.Attending and resolving guest complaints.Verification of supplies consignments.Organize on-the job training and evaluate its effectiveness.Approval of the Functional Manual of the department.Recommend recruitment of new personnel.Other Routine Responsibilities:Daily inspection of public areas and employees locker rooms.Daily briefing of Supervisors/ Executives.Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and public area with maintenance department.Immediately attending to guest requests.Prerequisites:

Education: Qualification in Housekeeping or Laundry

Experience : Minimum three years as an assistant housekeeper or supervisor.

The Kenya School of Law is a Postgraduate Training Institution run under the auspices of the Council of Legal Education Act, Cap. 16A of the Laws of Kenya. The core mandate of the Council of Legal Education is inter alia to train for legal professional development and in particular to train lawyers for entry into the legal profession as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya. For over 40 years the School has discharged this mandate under the leadership of the office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs. From 2006, however, the School became a Semi-Autonomous Government Agency (SAGA) with an expanded mandate and reviewed terms of service for its staff.

Housekeeper

Reports to: Hotel Manager Location: Mombasa.

Start Date: 1st July, 2011.

Duties and Responsibilities

Will be in charge of the House keeping department which comprises of eight junior officers.
Plan, organize and co-ordinate the operations of the housekeeping department.
Prepare the budgets for the department on a timely basis.
Ensure cleanliness is upheld in the hotel at all times.
Storing and issuing hotel linen and staff uniforms.
Handling all maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs and organizing easy hotel repairs.
Ensure the hotel rooms are fully stocked with items such as toiletries, cleaning supplies and bed and bathroom linens.

Person Specifications

• Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, window sills, etc.
• Empty trash containers daily.
• Wet mop floors in all rooms and bathrooms daily. Damp mop all corridor floors, lobby, dining areas,
and others daily.
• Clean wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers daily.
• Check all rooms daily to keep fresh.
• Report any needed repairs immediately to owner (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken windowpanes, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc.).
• Wash windows as scheduled.

Skills And Interests
To be a successful house- keeper you will need:
* Mathematical ability – to work out budgets .
* The ability to understand what the client wants
* The ability to work well in a team
* To be well organized and good at planning
* Good written and spoken communication skills
* Creative flair
* The ability to cope with the pressure of fast-paced work.

Qualifications.
* At least have a K.C.S.E certificate.
* At least 2 years experience in housekeeping.

SALARY :SH.7-10,000
