The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament-Act No.4 of 2013, to provide research based curricula and curriculum support materials responsive to the needs of the society.
Job Summary
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Deputy Director, Information Communication and technology
- Served in the grade of Principal Information Communication Technology Officer KICD Job grade 5 for a minimum of three (3) years or an equivalent position in the Public Service;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Computer Science; Information Science; Information Technology; Business Information Technology or any equivalent qualification from recognized institution;(iii)Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Computer Science; Information Science; Information Technology; Business Information Technology or any equivalent qualification from recognized institution;(iv)Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE); Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or any other equivalent qualification from recognized institution;(v)At least three (3) years in supervisory role;(vi)Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- A registered member of a recognized relevant professional body; and (ix)Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Fulfil the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining primary and disaster recovery data centres;
- Ensuring appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues;
- Developing systems to ensure the Institute makes best use of new technologies,
- Developing training materials, operating and user Manuals;
- Ensuring implementation of ICT policies and procedures;
- Carrying out feasibility studies for areas to be computerized;
- Evaluating systems and adherence to established performance standards;(viii)Maintaining custody of computer catalogues, manuals and licensed softwares;
- Coordinating administration and maintenance of LAN&WAN;7(x)Compiling progress reports on the operations of ICT systems;
- Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreements;(xii)Ensuring backup and disaster recovery systems are maintained;
- Coordinating systems development, implementation and maintenance; and
- Ensuring adherence to Information and Communication Technology Standards
