The lamu Archipelago is a small group of Island situated on Kenya´s Northen Coast line, near Somali. It is made up of Lamu, Manda, pate and Kiwayuu islands. Lamu town is the headquarter of Lamu District, one of the six districts of Kenya´s Coast Province, which boarders the Indian Ocean to the east, the Tana River District to the South-West, the Garissa District to the North and the republic of somali to the North-East. The County has a land surface area of 6,474.7 Km2 that includes the mainland and over 65 Islands that forms the Lamu Archipelago. The total length of the coastline is 130 km while land water mass area stands at 308km DSC_0653 The streets of Lamu are nowhere more than eight feet wide. The proximity of the high stone walls cools the air and means that the streets are always in shadow. An unforeseen benefit of their narrowness means that there are no motor vehicles in Lamu; all transport is by handcarts and donkeys. There are over 160 historic houses clustered in Stone Town, all built to the same traditional design, with a central courtyard surrounded by long narrow galleries and a flat open roof, sometimes shaded by a palm- frond thatch shelter.

Terms of Service: 3 Years Contract

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, the candidate must:

1. Be a Kenyan citizen;


2. Have Certificate of Secondary School Education (K.C.S.E) with mean grade of (D) plain

OR

1. K.C.P.E with three (3) years’ relevant working experience;


2. Be between 18 years to 38 years old.


3. Physical Fitness, Candidate must meet the body fitness test as applicable to the Kenya Police Force plus a fitness medical certificate;


4. Must not have been convicted of any criminal offence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

1. Providing security to County Government properties at designated areas of assignment;


2. Ensure orderliness during the assignment at all time;


3. Controlling and monitoring movement to and from the assigned property responsibly;


4. Patrolling the property as directed by the supervisor to ensure safety at all times;


5. Reporting any unusual happenings which could amount to security threats or any harmful happenings to the supervisor;


6. Responding to and answering alarms and investigate disturbances;


7. Write/Submit reports of daily activities and/or irregularities like equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences;


8. Call police or fire department in case of emergency, like fire or presence of unauthorized persons within the premises.
