Grassroot CBO Organization Tailoring and Dressmaking Instructor Job in Rarieda Kenya

Mission: Empower people and build their capacities to create positive change for children and youth within their community.


Purpose of the Position: Train students in specific technical skills area and prepare them for formal examinations/trade test.


Major Duties and Responsibilities


R1. Training


T.1 Develop Schemes of Work, lesson plans and Course Outlines and implement Tailoring and Dressmaking Curriculum.


T.2 Develop Schemes of work and lesson plans for General Study subjects and implement the curriculum thereof as may be directed from time to time by the supervisor.


T.3 Provide counseling to the students, address their disciplinary issues and assist in Conflict Resolution.


T.4 Prepare the students for their final examination and facilitate internal examinations.


T.5 Ensure all qualified students are registered for exams and accompany students to the examination center whenever called to.


T.6 Ensure their values and principles are communicated to the students and their caregivers.


T.7 Ensure the students participate in all relevant organizations activities including other projects.


T.8 Arrange for students attachment and placement and conduct attachment field assessment visits when scheduled


R2. Information Management
T.1 Filing of the family profiles and making sure the right students as per the their criteria are the ones attending class.


T.2 Keep daily attendance registers for the students.


T.3 Keeping (filing) examination records.


R3. Economic Mentoring to Students


T.1 Train and mentor students to acquire skills in developing items for sale and ensure self-sufficiency.


T.2 Facilitate students to meet production deadlines and relevant targets.


T.3 Train the students on how to deal with possible clients so as to enable them have competitive advantage.


T.4 Train the students on how to determine prices of their finished products to enable them engage in profitable ventures out of the acquired skills.


T.5 Train the students on the possible ways of marketing their skills as well as their finished products.


R4. Maintenance of Equipment


T.1 Regular maintenance of equipment and assets i.e. oiling of the machines


T.2 Requesting inputs from the inventory (and procurement) and allocating the same to students for use.


T.3 Reporting any damage caused and repairs needed in class and respective equipment.


T.4 Locking and opening the room (workshop) in the morning and evening.


T.5 Providing recommendations that can improve security of the class and equipment.


R5. General Maintenance


T.1 Assist in general repairs and maintenance on Tailoring and dressmaking related materials whenever called to.


T.2 Advice the organization promptly on different areas including Tailoring and dressmaking related aspects.


T.3 Come up with Tailoring and dressmaking related products for the organizations use whenever called to.


R6. Production


T.1 Assist in Tailoring and dressmaking production ventures of the organization whenever called to.


T.2 Assist in supervision of casuals and students work with regards to Tailoring and dressmaking related production.


T.3 Ensure that the final products are of good quality so as to maintain satisfaction of their clients.


T.4 Take part in wage preparation of the casual staff engaged in Tailoring and dressmaking production.


T.5 Assist in conducting interviews for Tailoring and dressmaking casuals and/or staff.

R7. Internal Administration


T.1 Provide quality and timely delivery of production and training reports in their agreed format and deadlines to facilitate follow-up and improvement of the work.


T.2 Maintain follow-up system to ensure efficient processes of production and training activities.


T.3 Maintain and keep up to date and accurate production and training records and reports of activities and beneficiaries according to the organization’s M&E and reporting requirements.


T.4 Actively maintain the internal referral system to ensure beneficiaries are provided with maximum support from the organization’s various expertise.


R8. Other Duties and Responsibilities


T.1 Actively participate in the Saturday Psycho-Social Support, for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children and build the community’s capacity to eventually run the Saturday PSS on their own.


T.2 Perform any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the management from time to time and which are related to the achievement of its mission and vision.
