Aidspan is looking for a highly motivated individual to join its policy analysis team. Applications are open from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Research /Policy Analyst position. 1. About Aidspan
Aidspan is a Kenyan-based international non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2002 as an independent observer of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Its mission is to be an effective watchdog by highlighting, analyzing, and influencing the transparency and effectiveness of the Global Fund at the global and country levels. The organization provides information, critical analysis, and commentary and new developments at the Global Fund via its official website (www.aidspan.org), Global Fund Observer (GFO) newsletter, reports, social media and other communication channels. Aidspan is an indispensable resource for a broad range of Global Fund stakeholders – from policy makers seeking independent critique and guidance on the Fund’s policies to grass roots organizations and implementers seeking access to the Fund’s considerable resources.
2. Responsibilities
The Research /Policy Analyst will join the Policy Analysis Unit and will report to the Senior Policy Analyst.
Specifically, the Research /Policy Analyst will have the following grouped activities:
a. Research
· Review literature as needed
· Collect and analyze data
· Assist in writing research reports, GFO and OFM articles, working papers, policy papers, and other materials as required
· Help to develop and coordinate research dissemination and follow-up activities a
· Other duties as required
b. Programme support
· Assist in the planning and preparation of meetings/conferences and other related issues
· Prepare reports, memos, letters, presentation and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, power point, databases etc.
c. Reporting
· Collect all quarterly reports from other departments; assist in preparing all reports
· Assist in preparing donor reports
3. Qualifications, knowledge, skills and attributes
Required
University degree in economics, public health, statistics, sociology or related subject with at least 5 years’ experience or Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience in research work: research planning and implementation (both quantitative and qualitative)
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, NVivo and Stata. Familiarity with other statistical and qualitative software is recommended
Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English (and desirably French)
Well organized self-starter, with attention to detail
Strong team player, and good to excellent interpersonal skills
An interest in and knowledge of global health, especially HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, would be an asset **
· Interest and experience in graphic design
4. Job location
This position is based at Aidspan’s office in Nairobi, Kenya. Preference will be given to those who are allowed to work in Kenya.
5. Salary
Aidspan offers an attractive remuneration based on staff grade.
6. Duration
The position will run for a period of one year and renewable based on performance and availability of funds.
