The KRCS is a strategic partner in the APHIAplus Zone 4 (Eastern and Central) Project within a consortium led by Jhpiego and funded by USAID.
APHIAplus will support integrated service delivery and address the social determinants of health in the technical areas of HIV and AIDS, Malaria, Family Planning and Tuberculosis, MNCH, Water and Sanitation.
The Project seeks to recruit Kenyan nationals to fill the following positions:
Position Title: Programme Officers (2 posts)
Reporting to: Regional Health Officer
Job Location: Nyeri and Embu
Overall Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of project activities as well as for effective planning, budgeting, implementing and evaluating community-based public disease prevention and control programmes to combat the spread of HIV and AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases and the Blood Donor Programme.
S/he will ensure timely and efficient achievement of the project’s objectives in their respective region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing leadership in the programme through, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programme activities including writing technical reports for donors.Managing activity budgets including processing relevant financial transactions.Providing technical assistance to Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) on comprehensive, programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.Representing the programme in technical committees at provincial, district/county level.Providing leadership to programme staff in documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt.Ensuring the project officers submit timely narrative and financial reports; and that all stakeholders receive copies of the reports by set deadlines.Coordinating technical assessment to establish critical community-based primary health care needs as well follow-up investigations of reported infectious diseases to determine source, contacts and carriers of disease.Developing strategies for integrating community-based health programmes aimed at combating the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria and cholera.Developing and implementing primary health care interventions including immunisation campaigns of vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, polio and nutritional deficiencies through mobile medical outreach and health camps.Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
A degree in Social Science, Public Health or a related field.At least 5 years experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in health programmes with significant exposure and understanding of key issues within the field of integrated health projects.Hands-on experience managing and leading technical and administrative teams for USG funded programmes strongly desired.Proven track-record of building effective partnerships and strategic alliances.Strong analytical, problem solving, team dynamic skills, strong communication and networking skills, and should be able to work with minimal supervision.Proficiency in using word processing and other computer software packages, including use of e-mail, internet as well as local and wide area network systems.Position Title: Project Officers (3 posts)

Job Location: Tharaka Nithi, Kitui and Kirinyaga
Overall Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the effective planning, budgeting, implementing and evaluating integrated and sustainable community-based Disease Prevention and Control Programme encompassing reproductive health, public health, nutrition and hygiene promotion to prevent communicable diseases, reduce mortality and improve maternal-child health among vulnerable populations affected by disasters.
Other responsibilities include strengthening volunteer networks, building their capacity for large scale reach to supplement public health services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and coordinating the implementation of project activities targeted at the youth, women, agencies and communities within the project areas.Coordinating and supporting the development of District Health Management teams responsible for demand creation.Developing strategies for integrating community-based health programmes through demonstration of insecticide treated nets (ITNs) and their distribution to vulnerable groups aimed at combating the spread of malaria.Developing a strategic community-based health plan and budget aligned to the Kenya Red Cross Society’s strategic objectives as well as the Government health policies and strategies.Conducting technical assessment to establish critical community-based primary health care needs.Networking and collaborating with Partners, FBOs and CBOs.Facilitating training among the beneficiary population.Conducting regular documentation of processes, challenges and lessons learnt.Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
A degree or Higher National Diploma in Social Science, Public Health, Community Development or related field.Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in project work.
