Grantwriter/ Research Intern

Be the Change – Kenya is seeking interns to join our team of young, motivated change makers to help us reach our project launch. In this position interns will gain a better understanding of how grant making and writing work, will be immersed in the cycle of grant writing, and will develop professional writing skills and competencies. Interns will also have an opportunity to draft and produce grant proposals. There is also an opportunity to learn about the internal operations of a project launch and the expectation to learn and understand our project model for alleviating child poverty with local sustainable solutions in Nairobi, Kenya.

This internship is unpaid but provides an amazing opportunity to be a part of a start-up organization involved in an innovative sustainable development initiative.

Responsibilities:

• Research available and applicable grants.

• Perform in-depth research into grant making organizations.

• Analyze the feasibility of the project’s budget.

• Data entry and time-lining for grant proposals.

• Maintain grant proposal spreadsheets.

• Assist in compliance and reporting requirements for grantors/funders.

• Follow up with organizations after initial application and seek personal connections.

• Research, retrieve and assemble background material for grant proposals.

• Draft full grant proposals for submission.

Qualifications:

• Highly organized individual with an aptitude for working in a start-up environment. This means being able to take on multiple projects, work independently, manage your time to meet deadlines, and happily tackle work that ranges from high-level responsibilities to tedious tasks.

• Ability to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuity in preparing grant applications.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Make a minimum 6 month commitment to the position.

• Interest and in international development, particularly creating sustainable solutions to global poverty.

Schedule & Hours
