Main Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager will be responsible for planning, designing and managing projects.Key Responsibilities
Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations; developing detailed designs; assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist rolesSupervising tendering procedures and putting together proposals.Managing, supervising and visiting contractors on site and advising on civil engineering issuesOverseeing the work of junior staff or mentoring civil engineers; communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues and architects, subcontractors, contracting civil engineers, consultants, co-workers and clientsThinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problemsManaging budgets and other project resources while compiling, checking and approving reportsLeading teams of other engineers, perhaps from other organizations or firmsReviewing and approving project drawings and using computer-aided design (CAD) packages for designing projectsUndertaking complex and repetitive calculationsScheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveryAdopting all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design, good manufacturing practices and safety on all work assignmentsEnsuring that a project runs smoothly and that the structure is completed on time and within budgetCorrecting any project deficiencies that affect production, quality and safety requirements before final evaluation and project reviewsSound mathematical and technical skills including physics Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills especially CAD packagesProfessionalism, Creativity, Team Player, Leadership, Innovative, Change Champion, Interpersonal skills, Analytical skills, Organizational skills.Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering a master’s degree is an added advantageMembership to a relevant professional body, At least 5 years relevant experienceInterested candidates should send their detailed CVs indicating current remuneration on or before 9th April, 2014 to the following address:
