Seeking: Roving Senior M&E/ Information Officer
USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) Program: The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.
The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict, promote stability and community cohesion, and strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials.
TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.
The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Roving Senior M&E / Information Officer.
As our Roving Senior M&E / Information Officer you will be responsible for handling the program’s information and communication needs and programming.
In high profile, high pressure environments, quick results reporting is expected.
In addition to compiling appropriate reporting on program status and impact, including regular reports, success stories, press releases, and ad hoc reports on how the program responds to particular issues, s/he will inform field office programming with regard to media, communications and information activities.
This position will be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Mass Communication, English Language / Literature or its equivalent with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in international development, media, communication, or monitoring and evaluation.
OR
- Diploma and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in international development, media, communication, or monitoring and evaluation.
- Previous experience working for an international NGO or donor funded implementing partner required
- Proven work experience in media, multimedia reporting and political journalism. Ability to conduct political analysis is required.
- Previously experience implementing monitoring and evaluation systems for donor-funded projects required.
- Previously experience with qualitative methodology, including conducting and analyzing results from focus group discussions and key informant interviews prefered.
- Experience capacity building and training members of the M&E and communications teams
- Ability to coordinate and support on any program related conferences, presentations, workshops, and events preferred.
- Familiar with activity and grant reporting methods and systems.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with deadline-driven writing assignments in English.
- English language fluency required; Somali language fluency strongly preferred.
