Job Vacancy: Clerk of Works

1 Position
 

The Machakos County Assembly Service Board seeks to attract highly qualified and competent candidates for the position of Clerk of Works on contractual terms to supervise the proposed construction of the County Assembly six storey building.
 

 

Terms of Service: Two (2) years contract renewable
 

Salary: Negotiable
 

a) Duties and Responsibilities
 

Duties and responsibilities at this grade include: planning and carrying out the functions of more than one sector of a division within the Clerk’s chambers:-

• Shall act as an inspector of the works on behalf of the Assembly under the direction of the Architect.


• Monitoring and supervision of works in progress.


• To monitor and review the work of contractors and other personnel assigned to the construction project.


• Reading and Interpreting of the Architectural and Engineering drawings


• Ensuring that the specifications and standards are adhered to during construction.


• Preparation of monthly physical progress reports of the project.


• Ensure the construction work schedules are maintained.


• To ensure that all work is accomplished and all the materials used conform to the appropriate building by-laws.

Requirements for Appointment
 

For appointment to this grade a candidate must be in possession of:-

• KCSE C plain or its equivalent


• A National Diploma in Civil Works and Building/Architecture or its equivalent from a recognized institution.


• Five (5) years’ experience and above having supervised similar projects.


• Shown administrative ability, wide knowledge and experience in preparation of drawings and management of drawings office


• Shown administrative ability by being conversant with Government procedures.


• Comply with Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution.
