Twiga is a supplier of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (FFV) to vendors in urban African markets. They provide their cashless B2B system to serve a distribution network of kiosks, small scale vendors, mama mbogas and more. Twiga’s goal is to make high quality goods easily accessible to vendors at a more reasonable cost
This person will provide support to the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. They will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency of the company’s finances. Proper record keeping is a large part of the accountant’s day-to-day work.
The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition
Responsibilities
- Process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
- Accounts reconciliation: – Accounts receivables, accounts payable, fixed assets, revenue and cashbook.
- Credit control
- Assist with reviewing of accounts as assigned
- Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS.
- Liaise with our Senior Accountants and the Financial Controller to improve financial procedures
- Assist with other accounting projects
Qualifications
- At least 5 years proven experience as an accountant
- Excellent organizing abilities
- Great attention to detail
- Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Professional Certification CPA-K or ACCA
- Degree in Accounting, finance or relevant field
- Work experience in a FMCG company is desirable
