Role Purpose


The position holder is responsible KADANA Refugee Network administrative, operational and programmatic affairs including community mobilization, organisation and capacity strengthening as well as coordinating activities and initiatives. The position will also offer support in implementation of the UPR Project in accordance to the Project Document (PD) and its approved working budget.


The incumbent will report directly to Technical Advisor- Advocacy and Human Rights or his/her designate.


Duties and responsibilities



  • Provide administrative and coordination support for the KADANA Refugee Network. Specifically, ensure the setting up of the KADANA office, adherence to KADANA administration and programmatic policies, strategies, and guidelines as well as adherence to State statutory requirements.

  • Provide operational support to the project management for the smooth implementation of the specified program component. This preparation of background materials for use in workshops, seminars, training sessions, meetings, visiting missions, field trips, etc and reports on financial expenses/transactions.

  • Support in projects’ conceptualization and implementation in accordance to the Strategic and Annual plans and other related project documents.

  • Serve as KADANA national secretary including establishing and maintaining an accurate and up-to-date filing system for the organizations’ reports, documents, information, and reference material in a manner that allows easy retrieval.

  • Identity and participate in complementary advocacy/lobbying by partners in other areas with a particular focus on refugee-led initiatives.

  • Represent the Project in meetings with partners and other key actors including the Government.

  • Coordinate the submission of timely and regular reports on KADANA activities as required.


Academic and Professional Qualifications



  • A University degree in Social Sciences preferably Law, International Relations, Sociology, human rights or any other related social/political sciences.

  • Proven experience in project management and coordination.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the various human rights mechanisms particularly the UPR mechanism is essential.

  • Operational knowledge of computer and organizational technology and ability to use information and communication technology as a tool and resource.

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely.

  • Networking and resource mobilization experience is an asset.

  • Membership in KADANA Refugee Network is an added advantage.

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili (read, write, speak).
