Sports Development Officer II – (3 Posts) at Bomet County



Bomet County is located in the former Rift Valley Province bordering Kericho County to the North and North East, Narok County to the South East, South, and South West, and Nyamira County to the North West. The county, listed electoral number 36, has Bomet town as its administrative center and covers a total area of 1,997.90 Sq Km. His Excellency Isaac Rutto, EGH, who is also the Chairman of The Council of Governors, is serving his first term as the governor of the county and is deputized by His Excellency Stephen Mutai. As per the 2009 National Census, the county had a total population of 730,129 of which 49% were males while 51% were females. Bomet County has five electoral constituencies thus: Sotik Constituency Bomet Central Constituency Bomet East Constituency Chepalungu Constituency and, Konoin Constituency

Duties and Responsibilities


This is the entry and training grade for the Sports Development Officers cadre.

An officer at this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer.


Duties and responsibilities will involve: 



  • Developing and promoting sports activities in the division;

  • Identifying sports talent;

  • Mobilizing and sensitizing local community to participate in sports; organizing matches;

  • Liaising with volunteers to support sports programmes;

  • Collecting data and preparing reports on sports functions and competitions.

  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned.


Requirements for Appointment


For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-



  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Physical Education and Sports; Physical Education; Sports Science; Leisure and Recreation Management or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution


OR



  • Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management lasting not less than two (2) years from a recognized institution; and Certificate in Computer Applications.
