Due to this forecasted expansion, our client seeks a dynamic, ambitious and self driven General Manager who is very well versed with international supermarket and retail operations and has the temerity to spearhead corporate strategy, growth and brand equity.
The General Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and the Board.
* Devise, deploy and oversee standard operating procedures in achieving international supermarket standards and financial performance (both top-line and bottom-line).
* Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the company maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and returns to its stakeholders.
* Work with the Directors (Top Management team) on the implementation of the company’s strategic and operational plans.
* Establish key benchmarks and performance measures to assess operational effectiveness.
* Establish processes to analyze results and develop plans for improving business practices to maximize profitability.
* Minimum of a University degree, an MBA will be an added advantage
* 8 -10 years of relevant experience of which at least 5 years should have been in a leading Retail/ Supermarket Chain at senior level.
* Strong financial management experience with ability to develop and achieve budgets & targets
* Excellent people skills, strong leadership qualities and a positive “can do” attitude
* Strong relationship building skills with customers & suppliers
* A good understanding of the retail or wholesale distribution channel is essential
* Good working knowledge of an extensive ERP System
