MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS MANAGER - KENYA - ?50-55k (+ bonus, excellent benefits and international relocation allowance) allowance

A leading UK PLC is currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager to manage one of their key production facilities in Kenya on an initial 2 year assignment.

The main focus of the role will be to manage the operations of a high volume manufacturing site of around 250. This role has a focus of process improvement through Six Sigma and duties will include:

Ensure short, medium and long term capacity (labour and equipment) is available to meet production plans. Ensure that all systems and procedures are correctly applied particularly with respect to safety, quality, security and housekeeping. Monitor the key performance indicators within production and use these to generate improvements. Identify and, where appropriate, implement new ways of working (including lean manufacturing tools), equipment and processes in order to improve performance within the production areas. Ensure that key skills and knowledge is retained in the production areas through succession planning and training to enable product to be manufactured in the most efficient manner. Encourage a continuous improvement culture within production and drive initiatives through to completion. To set and control departmental budgets/spend.

In order top be considered candidates will need to have strong operations management experience within manufacturing and have excellent lean manufacturing experience (ideally Six Sigma). Candidates from technical high volume industries are preferred such as print/printing, packaging, chemicals, paper or other similar industries are preferred. Candidates with a background in automotive will also be considered.

Candidates will need to have a genuine commitment to work overseas and due to the nature of the assignment non-UK nationals cannot be considered. The position comes with a good base salary of ?50-55k, 20% Overseas allowance, accommodation, car and an excellent benefits package. The role is for an initial 2 years based in Kenya with possible options to continue in the role or move elsewhere within the business after this period.
