Reporting to: ICT Director

Supervises: Network Administration Coordinators and Officers

Broad Role:

To be charged with the responsibility of managing the company’s Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) functions i.e. Network maintenance, recovery, topology, security and availability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install, administer and configure network servers, workstations, and remote access wireless equipmentsMaintain network and workstation hardware and softwareMonitor network to ensure availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availabilityTo supervise other network support technicians and plan, co-ordinate, and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting usersTo manage performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resourcesAnalyze user support statistics and other data and recommend appropriate measuresMaintain the operating system and security software utilized on the network, including the addition of new users to the network and establishment of rights and privilegesIdentify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectationsAnticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measuresInvestigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availabilityDocument network problems and resolutions for future referenceParticipate in designing, setting up, implementing and testing business continuity and disaster recovery installations.Education, Professional Qualifications and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer science /Management Information Systems /Engineering or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years experience in a busy networking environment 3 of which should be at management levelProve of experience in network system design, development methods and techniques.Required Skills and Competencies
Extensive knowledge of computer network system engineering (Preferably MCSE)Considerable knowledge of capabilities, utilization, and limitations of data processing equipmentGood knowledge of standard computer languages and operating systems, including AIX or UNIXGood knowledge of VPN, IP addressing and TCP/IP networking (including networking technology such as CCNP)Broad knowledge of network management practices and proceduresInterested candidates holding the necessary requirements are encouraged to send their hard copy application with clear reference of the job code on the envelope, detailed CV, names and contact of 3 referees, one of whom must be a former employer, copies of certificates, testimonials, current telephone number and email address on or before March 5 , 2012 to the address indicated below.
