Our systems-based approach to solving the sanitation crisis involves five key steps: we build a dense network of franchised micro-entrepreneurs, who operate low-cost, high-quality waterless sanitation facilities – called Fresh Life – as small businesses.
We provide critical support services – such as access to finance, training, marketing and business analytics. We collect the waste regularly and safely remove it from the community. We convert the waste into valuable by-products, such as organic fertilizer and renewable energy. Finally, we sell the by-products to Kenyan farms. Since November 2011, we have launched over 500 Fresh Life Toilets to a network of 250 micro-entrepreneurs and we have collected and converted over 3000 tons of waste.
Role: The Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will be responsible for generating and sustaining high consumer usage of Fresh Life Toilets, while supporting the sales team to increase franchise uptake of the Fresh Life Toilets.
To accomplish these goals, the Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will work with the Marketing & Branding manager and a team of marketing staff to implement community-wide branding and sanitation awareness campaigns; strategize and execute marketing initiatives to support Fresh Life franchisees in attracting users; and measure effectiveness of all branding and marketing activities.
The Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will also work closely with the Sales & Operations Team to identify and implement viable marketing initiatives aimed at generating demand for franchise uptake.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Branding
Collaborate with Sales & Operations Team to help increase customer (franchisee) sales through strategic branding and development of relevant collateral materialsWork with branding assistant to identify and implement branding activities to increase brand awareness in the communityResearch most effective and cost efficient media and other branding channelsWork with design and procurement teams to ensure timely production of all marketing collateralWork with the research department to conduct periodic brand and user assessmentsPlan and execute consumer marketing strategies aimed at increasing usage at all Fresh Life ToiletsMonitor usage trends across Fresh Life network through continuous data analysisUse available research and usage data to develop and implement effective user recruitment and retention strategiesWork with the marketing team to execute community mobilization activitiesProvide marketing support to the operations team to identify and effectively address franchisee marketing challengesProvide coaching and mentoring to the marketing team to ensure effective delivery of marketing programsDevelop and monitor budgets for consumer marketing activitiesSupport day to day operations of the marketing team to ensure successful implementation of marketing activities Coach marketing team members to develop skills in creating data-driven marketing strategies and implementing marketing campaignsBachelors degree in marketing or business related disciplineProven experience in designing and implementing consumer marketing & branding activitiesAbility to conduct consumer research especially in FMCG environmentAbility to develop and implement data-driven strategies to increase customer acquisition and retentionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative working style, with ability to lead and inspire teams including temporary field staffFluent in English and SwahiliGood knowledge of MS Office applications including ability to analyze data, develop presentations and reportsGood understanding of the urban informal settlements market, including ideal marketing strategies and channelsPassion for creativity and innovationWe offer an interesting and challenging position within a multicultural and dynamic environment, selling a product that makes a significant positive impact, working with a highly motivated team who is passionate about the cause.
