Economist Job Vacancy in Kenya

Economist



Duties


  • Data collection and analysis in the county with focus on Agriculture, energy and real estate among others.

  • Using plausible econometric, statistical and mathematical tools to analyse data and draw conclusions that can inform investment and development decisions.

  • Prepare periodic reports and findings to support investment decisions and influence investment policy.

  • Advise the management on resources mobilization and allocation.

  • Develop a data bank for future reference

  • Help in formulation of investment policies and policy intervention for existing economic challenges in the county.

  • Help develop financial projections and capital needs estimates for projects.


Important Qualities


  • Analytical skills- Ability to review data observe patterns and draw logical conclusions.

  • Communication skills- Ability to explain their work to others, give presentations and explain reports on economic issues.

  • Critical-thinking skills- Ability to use logic and reasoning to solve complex problems and identify how economic trends may affect investments on a global and local level.

  • Accuracy and detail oriented in their findings.

  • Ability to use the principles of statistics, calculus, and other advanced topics in mathematics in their economic analyses.


Academic Qualifications & Experience


  • Specialist in economics at undergraduate level with a strong understanding of micro-economics. Masters degree an added advantage.

  • Familiar with Spreadsheet Modelling

  • Conversant with SPSS or any other econometric modeling tool.

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience, preferably in the public sector.

  • Deep /strong understanding of the investment micro-economic frameworks for the county.

  • Prove of research work previously done.
