Senior Social Media & PR Coordinator

One of Kenya’s Leading E-Commerce companies is seeking a creative, goal-oriented, highly entrepreneurial, and proven social communicator to join our exciting and fast-paced team.




 We are looking for a proven Senior Social Media & PR Coordinator to define, own, and execute our editorial strategy for thousands of fans and followers. 



This person will create new and effective ways to extend our social presence and engage the community. 




They will become a driving force of our social media strategy and analysis, and day-to-day execution of community management

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating innovative and compelling social media strategies, plans, and content that connects customers with our offerings and products. 



This person will be our voice in social media, responsible for creating and publishing content across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram among others. 



The role will own sourcing, writing, editing, publishing, and reporting on impact and effectiveness against stated goals and strategies. 



In addition, s/he will be a social media content expert within our company, working with product and creative teams to inform plans and roadmaps, and will identify, coordinate, and communicate best practices amongst teams.

Our ideal candidate has led social efforts in a retail environment, loves analyzing campaign performance and has their thumb on the latest social trends. 




They understand the intricacies of each social channel and can optimize strategy and messaging to effectively engage the audience.

Can build a highly results oriented team, and at its core, focuses on building and leveraging in-house technology in order to automate and scale marketing programs that drive new customers and maximize lifetime value of our customers through measurable marketing programs and channels.


An experienced publicist to take responsibility for PR campaigns that increase brand awareness for our ecommerce company, domestically and in key new African markets. 




This role will help support the communication and social media efforts with tactical communication and strategic public relations initiatives. 



Reports to the Marketing Manager and supports brand partnerships and messaging that influence media coverage and engage our core customer.

Social Media Responsibilities



  • Conceive, create and execute innovative marketing campaigns to deliver revenue growth, customer retention, and increased consumer engagement and sales through social and affiliate channels

  • Identify and create programs and promotions to grow membership and engagement within the social media and community space that align with our corporate objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects – work prioritization, planning and time management

  • Partner with other departments to know incoming product lines as well as provide timely reporting and analytical understanding of campaign results

  • Identify and own emerging platforms strategy and execution

  • Obsess over customers and how they want to engage with us across social platforms

  • Own the social marketing strategy across existing and new social platforms

  • Create and execute strategies for content to be posted on social media channels including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

  • Frequently audit the success of the community by measuring against engagement and reach KPIs, and present results to internal stakeholders

  • Create, publish and manage daily social posts as well as daily community management

  • Must have a strong visual eye to help guide design process and production of assets Seek and evaluate new social media and platforms and technology opportunities and stay at the forefront of the adoption of new social media trends, tools, and channels

  • Demonstrated capability to create copy, imagery, and video content for targeted audiences and to support stated goals. Please be prepared for a content portfolio review

  • Hands-on experience publishing to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., and using social publishing and measurement tools


Brand & PR Responsibilities


  • Leverage existing and establish professional relationships with members of the media (national, regional, local and global, trade, business, general and blogs), to secure positive and increased coverage for Shopbop and East Dane

  • Serve as a primary media contact responsible for responding to and managing media inquiries and requests

  • Delegate to and manage select local and International PR & Marketing Agencies

  • Draft statements and respond to media inquiries on behalf of the company.

  • Coordinate and facilitate media requests, interviews and photo shoots with relevant company spokespeople

  • Draft, edit and disseminate press releases and other relevant PR materials as needed

  • Manage and execute PR events domestically; Manage event execution with agencies in key global markets

  • Ideation and execution for news-worthy initiatives, such as capsule collections and brand partnerships

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop yearly PR strategy

  • Suggest ideas/initiatives to drive customer growth and brand awareness in key global and domestic markets

  • Manage and execute relevant influencer partnerships for the company

  • Provide monthly press results and analysis of coverage

  • Work closely with business unit teams to identify and secure appropriate personalities to feature on site

  • Collaborate with buying team on vendor and product priorities for PR placements, campaigns and social media

  • Manage and execute any PR gifting needs, including budget and invoice management

  • Work with PR Coordinator to oversee reporting and media requests


Requirements


  • 3-5+ years of experience leading and executing social media, PR, and/or marketing strategies for leading consumer brand(s)

  • BA/BS degree in economics, Business, Advertising, Marketing, Communications or related fields

  • Strong understanding of website metrics, data analysis, and reporting tools

  • Accepts and learns from constructive criticism and responds positively and quickly with proper solutions and maintain a professional attitude

  • Independently self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills

  • Experienced creative writer with an attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of statistics data aggregation and metrics

  • Proficient Understanding of Windows XP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

  • Experienced with Photoshop and other creative software

  • Ability to independently lead and work with a business leads and creative teams to successfully meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in writing and orally

  • Ability to foster teamwork among diverse groups and disciplines

  • Ability to influence cross-functionally and gain key stakeholder alignment

  • Fiscally responsible in managing campaign and portfolio budgets

  • Mix of agency and in-house experience

  • Ecommerce/Retail experience

  • Able to work in an ambiguous, ‘internet-speed’ environment
