Feeds Manufacturing Company Production Manager Very Urgent Job in Kenya

Position: Production Manager

We are a Feeds Manufacturing Company whose core business is to produce and sell animal feeds all over the country and we are looking for a self-motivated candidate to take up the above-mentioned position as soon as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Overseeing the whole production process


• To plan, coordinate and control the manufacturing processes.


• Ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.


• Draw up Production schedule and ensure that production is cost effective


• Drawing up a production schedule as per the sales departments needs in conjunction with Customer Service Manager


• Ensure that formulas are correct and cost effective


• Ensure production and availability of quality and quantity of feeds required at all times


• Monitor raw material standards and ensure quality control measures in liaison with the purchases department


• Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines within the production department


• Ensure punctuality of all staff in the department by setting a good example


• Ensure accurate posting of all products from production in to the accounting system


• Ensure continuity of production by making sure that there are at least five (5) batches ready for milling at all times


• working out the human and material resources needed;


• Estimate costs and setting the quality standards


• Ensure accurate weighing of finished goods at all times


• Maintain a diary of events noting any activity that contributes to good or bad performance


• Report any misconduct immediately to the HR department for a corrective action


• Ensure maximum utilization of manpower, machines, tools and equipment in your department for maximum results


• Any other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time by those put in authority over you


• Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed;


• Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs;


• Partnering with other line managers to ensure realization of the company’s policies and goals;


• Supervising and motivating a team of workers;


• Conducting performance evaluations for subordinates


• Identifying training needs for subordinates and suggesting the same to management


• A production manager is involved in the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage.


• Your role will be more closely integrated with other functions, such as marketing, sales and finance.


• You may need to work extended hours, particularly if there are tight deadlines to be met or new systems to be introduced. You could be on call at weekends or public holidays to deal with problems.

Qualifications / Skills & Experience

• Although this area of work is open to all graduates, a degree in Food Science/Technology will increase your chances of being the best candidate


• Postgraduate courses include production management and manufacturing management and are an added advantage


• At least five years’ experience in animal feeds manufacturing company three of which you must have held the post of production manager. Experience in process and batch production is a plus.
