Terms
of Reference: Kenya Accounts and Administrative Assistant
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced accountant
to use their skills to bring an efficient and effective approach to the
financial management of CPF’s Kenya office.
The
Cafédirect Producers’ Foundation (CPF) is a small, fast growing entrepreneurial
charity.
We were set up by social enterprise Cafédirect plc in 2009 and work with a
network of 280,000 smallscale farmers worldwide to develop innovative solutions
to the daily challenges they face.
In
our programmes across Africa and Latin America, we aim to be innovative,
entrepreneurial and participatory in everything we do.
For
example, we won the Google Impact Challenge in 2014 for our pioneering work to
develop and launch WeFarm as an independent social enterprise.
We are
now at an important stage of growth as we seek to scale up our impact across
Africa and Latin America.
CPF’s
Kenya office currently holds local branch registration, and is currently based
at the Nairobi Garage, Westlands.
We’re
looking for someone who is:
- Comfortable
working collaboratively as part of a small, dynamic, international team - Passionate
about CPF’s model and approach. - Willing
to try things and do things differently. - Adaptable
and entrepreneurial, with a can-do approach and committed to going above
and beyond the role’s on paper remit to ensure success.
Key
aspects of the role include:
- Payroll
management for CPF East Africa based employees - Day
to day bookkeeping, including the processing and logging of expenses
receipts - Maintaining
petty cash for the Nairobi office - Preparation
of monthly reconciliations for CPF’s Kenya Bank Account - Processing
payments to East Africa based contracted consultants, suppliers, office
rent and costs. - Preparation
and followup of invoices for payment. - Helping
to ensure that financial policies, procedures and systems for CPF’s
Nairobi office are ‘fit for purpose’ - Preparation
of adhoc financial reports as requested. - Maintaining
files of financial documentation to ensure there is a clear audit trail
and documents are easily retrievable by:
1.
Completing and compiling expenses forms and receipts
2.
Sorting, scanning & filing expenses receipt
- Nairobi
office equipment/inventory management
Characteristics
and Skills of our ideal candidate would include:
- Motivated
by CPF’s mission to work with smallholder in Africa and Latin America to
develop innovative solutions to the challenges they face. - Experience
supporting the financial needs of small nonprofits and/or enterprise - Bachelor
of Commerce or CPA/ACCA qualified or part qualified ideally with some
knowledge and experience of financial management and accounting standards. - Time
spent working in the international development sector. - Excellent
IT, written and verbal communication skills, including ability to work
with Excel - Ability
to work effectively without supervision.

opportunity to make a real impact in a small but ambitious organisation.
Salary
level: Ksh 50,000 per month (pro rata), plus local benefits package.
This
is a part time role with the estimated input required being between 1 to 2 days
per week total 10 days per month.
Contract Type: 12 months fixed term contingent on the successful completion of
a 2month probationary period.
Location: Westlands, Nairobi (principally office based, with flexible working
options negotiable)
