Business Development Manager
The Business development Manager reports to the Managing Partner.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will support the Managing Partner in aspects of his/her responsibilities and has overall responsibility for the direction of all business growth and marketing functions of the Firm.
The BDM will effectively and efficiently manage the business growth and marketing activities for the Firm, and to the greatest extent possible, reduce this burden from Managing Partner and the other Partners.
She/he will be responsible for increasing revenue, developing and executing the marketing’s strategies and assist partners in the acquisition of new clients while maintaining a good rapport with the existing clients.
Roles and responsibilities include:
Business Development:
- Create new and follow up business opportunities for the firm.
- Identify leads and pitch for provision of legal services to prospective clients
- Evaluate the client database and propose the best business strategy for increased business
- Maintain a good working relationship with the old and new clients
- Oversee the development, printing of marketing materials such as the firm profiles as would be required by the firm.
- Feed the Firm website with marketing information.
- Oversee the preparation of the marketing budget for the firm and present to Partnership for approval and thereafter continuously monitor and manage firm’s approved marketing budget throughout the year.
- Take ownership of any business development initiatives for the Firm.
- Collect, monitor feedback and maintain a high degree of client satisfaction
- Manage the business development functions economically and efficiently
- Identify , analyze complex client relationship issues and problems, and recommend and implement solutions
Marketing
- Represent the Firm, along with the Managing Partner and other Partners, in dealings with its clients or any other related organizations.
- Actively promote and market the Firms’ areas of practice.
- Assist in meeting potential business clients to discuss clients needs and or conduct presentations.
- Review marketing programs and recommend to the Managing Partner and Partnership Board and manage or improve the existing programs
Education:
- Degree in Business, Law Commerce or Finance related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience Skills and Attributes
- At least 2 years with relevant experience in new business development and client management
- A good and sound knowledge of marketing principles, able to build and support a good firm brand name.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills , people management at senior levels and willingness and ability work under pressure.
- Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking
- Has the ability to function independently and successfully in a business environment with multiple/changing priorities and demands.
- Understands unique challenges of professional services firms
- Excellent interpersonal , communication and networking skills not only with clients , but also with Advocates and support staff
- Excellent command of English
- Should possess excellent research as well as computer skills
- Focused on performance and results
- Self starter with high degree of resourcefulness requiring minimal supervision
- Contributor to the team attention to detail and accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate recommendations and proposals to the Managing Partner
