Background to the role
The research assistant will support the Kenya Girl’s Puberty Book Project. The aim of the project is to develop a book for Kenyan girls aged 10-14 who are transitioning through early puberty into adolescent. The book is an adaptation of a girl’s puberty book that has successfully been developed in partnership with Ministries of Education in five countries to date (Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, Cambodia and Madagascar). All of the existing books can be found: http://www.growandknow.org/books.html Included in the puberty book is content on girl’s changing bodies, menstrual hygiene management, and stories collected from adolescent girls. Given the very strong network of individuals and organizations working on menstrual hygiene management (MHM) in Kenya already, and the new government guidelines on MHM, the development of a puberty book in Kenya will benefit from the many strong partners and collaborators that exist
