Psychologist Internship, Current Kenyan Internships,
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assessing a client’s needs, abilities or behaviour using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behaviour
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside doctors, nurses, social workers, education professionals, health visitors, psychiatrists, physiotherapist, occupational therapists and any other consultants
- Devising and monitoring appropriate treatment programs, including therapy, counseling or advice, in collaboration with colleagues;
- Offering therapy and treatments for difficulties relating to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behaviour
- Developing and evaluating service provision for clients;
- Providing consultation to other professions, encouraging a psychological approach in their work;
- Counseling and supporting care givers;
- Developing, implementing or evaluating employee selection procedures, including psychometric tests, assessment center exercises and structured interviews;
- Mediating in situations where there is conflict between employees and management or an employment dispute;
- Designing, developing and implementing initiatives aimed at helping employees to cope successfully with changes taking place in their workplace, such as restructuring, downsizing or new business processes.
- Encourage positive healthcare behaviors such as healthy eating, attending health checks and regular exercise
- To offer home visits for clients who are unable to visit the facility for services.
- To follow up on home visits done by social workers
Requirements
- Degree in psychology/clinical/counseling psychology from a recognized institution
