Job Summary
Our client Riara Group of Schools is seeking to recruit a Group Human Resource Manager whose principal role is to provide world-class HR leadership to RGS. The GHRM is required to champion the development of organizational HR strategies while providing oversight to the HR department and ensuring that HR strategies and improvement projects are achieved.
Responsibilities
- GHRM to report to the board and the Executive Director Operations (Juju Gachukia)
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations’ HR strategies
- Generating accurate and timely reports on key performance areas in HR functions for submission to the Board of Directors.
- Provide advisory support to the group functional leaders on human resource matters affecting the operations of the institution.
- Oversight of Ongoing Operations
- Lead the selection, recruitment and on-boarding of senior level academic and administration staff in consultation with the institutional managers and Board of Directors.
- Oversee the organization-wide performance management process and structured reviews
- Manage staff compensation and benefit schemes including oversight in payroll, medical, pension and other welfare activities.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of documented HR standard operating procedures.
- Regularly review and update HR policies and procedures.
- Oversee leave management and regularly analyze leave records to ensure compliance to all legislation pertaining to all types of leave.
- Maintain proper employee relations while adhering to all labour laws and providing staff with a safe and healthy working environment.
- Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of staff functions such as Staff Awards and Staff meetings.
- Ascertain that RGSs human resource records are properly stored and maintained.
- Conduct organization-wide training needs assessment and identify skills gaps from analysis of performance appraisals.
- Develop annual budgets for the HR function in conjunction with institutional managers, and ensuring adherence to set budget targets throughout the year.
- Suggest improvement initiatives on all of the above
- Strategic HR initiatives / projects
- Further develop the organization-wide performance management process by implementing effective appraisal systems and structures
- Present plans and execute on expansion projects such as acquisitions/integrations as well new campuses
- Develop an organizational structure chart and further develop the procedural HR landscape that prepare RGS for a fast expansion
- Introduce a strategic talent management and potential analysis process
- Introduce digital administration tools across HR activities / processes
- Design an internal personal development program that optimizes the potential for every employee; in particular, develop training programs with the school heads and CBC
- Liaise with external consultants and human resource service providers.
- Nurture a positive working environment while empowering and motivating departmental team members and ensuring efficient execution of responsibilities.

Requirements
Knowledge Skills & Experience
- This is a senior role whose occupant should possess the following qualifications, experience and associated competencies:
Educational background
- A Business or Social Science related degree such as Business Management, HR, Psychology, Sociology etc.
- Post graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related degree.
- Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management.
- A member of a recognized HR professional body.
Professional experience
- A minimum of 15 years post qualification experience, 5 of which should be at a senior level in a high-performing organization.
- Ideally: some corporate and prior strategy consulting experience
- Ideally: Experience with fast-growing organizations and change processes
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Aptitude
- World-class leadership acumen / leadership strength
- Strategic vision / comprehensive understanding of businesses and organizational needs
- Excellent verbal and written communitcation skills
- Superior Interpersonal negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to priorotize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
