Feed the Children is an international, non-profit relief organization that was founded in 1979 with headquarters in Oklahoma City, United States of America. In Kenya, Feed the Children was registered in 1993 under the Non-Governmental Organization Coordination Board Act. Feed the Children Kenya office’s first program in the 1990s was the Dagoretti Children’s Centre (DCC) which assisted children who were physically challenged. In 2000, the organization opened the Abandoned Baby Centre (ABC) which rescued children who had been abandoned by family. In 2004, the organization began implementing the School Feeding Program (now called School Meals Programs). The program was in partnership with WFP and Ministry of Education and was aimed at encouraging children to attend school, improve school retention rates and reduce school drop-outs rates.
Principal Responsibilities
Travel and Transport Management
- Supervise all drivers using practical work schedules developed in a team environment.
- Ensure that the organization’s vehicles are properly serviced, maintained and that warranties are carefully utilized to minimize costs.
- Analyze and advise the Operations Director on vehicle needs to meet the demands of the country office program.
- Ensure timely renewal of all FEED vehicle licenses, inspection stickers, insurances, vehicle trackers, etc.
- Monitor the use of FEED vehicles and ensure that all drivers comply with FEED vehicle usage policy to ensure that there is no misuse.
- Co-ordinate regular servicing of all FEED vehicles, including field offices, and facilitate repairs as necessary.
- Conduct routine inspections of all FEED vehicles and provide monthly reports of the same.
- Review all transport paperwork including logbooks to ensure that accurate records are maintained.
- Manage the vehicle fuel card system to ensure cost-efficiency.
- Optimize planning and management activities to make sure established deadlines are met.
- Coordinate transport requests, provide technical support to the transport team, and structure all transport processes so that teams can excel in the performing of duties.
Inventory Management
- Oversees inventory of vehicles and equipment and manages the distribution.
- Manages inventory tracking system to record deliveries and stock levels.
- Evaluate deliveries and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.
- Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
- Controls inventory levels for cost-effectiveness.
- Regularly reviews freight costs, transportation rates, and/or the prices of raw materials to minimize costs where possible.
Supply chain process
- Establish an effective supply chain process, adhere to the safety rules/regulations/objectives, and manage supply chain activities, logistics, and distribution.
- Provide leadership in the supply chain process to manage and minimize the risks that could affect or interrupt the supply chain.
- Work with procurement unit to evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts with vendors for all acquisition needs.
- Oversee product storage, handling, and distribution.

Requirements
Experience
- Relevant experience in fleet management tracking systems.
- Relevant experience in inventory management
- Past experience as a Transport Supervisor with a fleet of 6 to 10 vehicles will be added advantage
Education/Certifications
- Degree in business administration, logistics, or related field preferred or a high school diploma with 5+ years experience in customer service or logistics management a must.
- 3 years of accident-free unbroken driving experience with a valid Class BCE license
- Qualification in motor vehicle mechanics will be an added advantage.
- Training certificate in First Aid.
- Kenya Police Certificate of Clearance – Good Conduct
