CARE International in Kenya is looking for suitable individuals to fill the following position within its Refugee Assistance Program in Dadaab, North Eastern Kenya.

Housekeeper
Ref: HK/2/3/11

Reporting to the Administration Officer, the Housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring general compound cleanliness, managing of the residential mini-store for cleaning and accommodation items, management of compound residential facilities and items.

The position holder will liaise with the compound plumber and electrician to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services. He/she will manage a wide range of services including overseeing laundry services for both visitors and CARE staff in the compounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

    * Supervising a team of workers responsible for maintaining compound cleanliness
* Managing leave
* Maintaining and updating records of mini-stores for keeping cleaning and linen
* Ensuring all lighting systems are working in the compound
* Creating system for efficient and effective management of visitors
* Orientate visitors on all compound utilities, facilities and rules
* Ensuring that residential rooms are clean and safe

Required qualifications and experience

    * Diploma in housekeeping from a recognized institution
* Must have Kenya Certificate of Secondary education certificate with a minimum of C-
* Two years of progressive work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite
* Good organizational and management skills
* Ability to work in a team environment with staff from diverse cultures
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Good customer service skills
* Good Leadership and organizational skills
* Must be fluent in both written and spoken English & Swahili languages
