Chepkoilel University College Legal Officer Job in Kenya

Chepkoilel University College is a new Constituent College of Moi University. It was established through Legal Notice No. 125 of 13th August,2010. The College is located 14km to the North West of Eldoret town and has student and staff population of 6,000 and 1,100 respectively.

The University College now seeks to recruit a qualified and competent person to fill the position indicated below:-

The holder of this position will head the Legal Section of the College and will report to the Principal.

The purpose of the section is to ensure that , secretarial, legal and corporate activities of the University College are handled effectively. The holder will also be the principal legal advisor to the University College.

The applicant should be self motivated, mature, confident and responsible individual with an excellent legal mind.

Key Responsibilities

Being responsible for all legal matters affecting the University College.Advising the Council and Management on all contracts and agreements to be entered into between the University College and third parties.Developing and managing the College’s litigation functions in liaison with state law office and / or external lawyers.Attending court where appropriate and ensuring the University College operates within the law and gets effective.Managing the Council Secretariat , preparing and circulating in a timely manner agendas and minutes of Council.Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized UniversityAdvocate of the High Court of KenyaCurrent law practising certificateAt least 8 years experienceBe computer literateBe of the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalismPost qualification experience in Company Secretarial functions,new Labour Laws practices & Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) negotiations, alternative dispute settlement arrangements etcInterested candidates should submit their handwritten application together with an updated curriculum vitae, copies of certificates and testimonials and three names of their referees.
