Public Health Specialist

KPMG is a leading provider of professional services, which include audit, tax and advisory. KPMG’s Development Advisory Services Unit (DAS) is based in Nairobi, Kenya and has adopted a pan-African approach to development work, employing full-time experienced development experts within the KPMG Africa team at our headquarters in Nairobi, together with a network of champions across the twenty countries of KPMG in sub-Saharan Africa. KPMG is the Local Fund Agent (LFA) for the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria grants in Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan (South Sudan).

KPMG/Kenya has an immediate opening for a Public Health Specialist to work with our local Fund Agent (LFA) services team. The successful candidate of this position will be the key public health advisor on HIV, TB and Malaria for our LFA work in Sudan and South Sudan. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical advice related to HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria on LFA deliverables that are submitted to the Global Fund.
The position is based in our office in Nairobi, Kenya with significant travel to Sudan and South Sudan

Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides technical guidance and direction to the Global Fund secretariat, LFA team members, principal and sub-recipients on management and implementation of grant activities in Sudan and South Sudan; • Prepares technical sections of key LFA deliverables related to HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria • Supervise the work of other technical experts that are contracted by KPMG Kenya on a short or long basis to deliver LFA services; • As an expert on matters pertaining to HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria, the incumbent represents KPMG Kenya at technical, policy and strategic planning meetings, including meetings with clients and collaborators.
Desired qualifications:

Education: Masters (MD, MPH, and MSHP) Degree or equivalent in public health, nursing, health policy, public administration, or social sciences is required.

Prior Work Experience: 8-10 years of mid-to-senior level public health experience in developing, implementing and evaluating HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria or other public health programs that involve coordination with an international agency or implementing partner is required.

One additional year of experience at the managerial level with multiple staff is required.

Previous experience working with/for/on Global Fund substantially valued.

Fluency in English is required, fluency is Arabic would be valued

Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communications skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with national and international health partners are required. The ability to lead results-driven project teams and workgroups is required. Intermediate user level of word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required. Numerical skills for data analysis are required
