Our client, the sole authorized distributor of Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry and Spectroscopy products for chemical analysis to analytical chemistry laboratories in Southern and East Africa is seeking to recruit a Sales Manager.
Location: Nairobi
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the liaising and the driving of the instrument business with the company’s agents in the region where applicable.
- To work and interact with customers directly.
- Become the true customer “account manager” and represent the company and
- principal suppliers professionally and technically in accounts in the assigned
- territory.
- Acceptance of a sales quota for the territory.
- Liaise with customers and agents on sales issues and activities i.e. distribution
- of literature, qualification of sales leads and discussions on customers’ needs.
- Formation of professional sales consultant / customer relationships at all levels.
- Quotation generation and configuration of new instruments and systems.
- Prospecting for new business and lead generation through the responsible agent where present or interact with customers directly.
- Be able to present with multi-media, the company’s suppliers, the company,
- products both formally and informally with authority, competence and
- enthusiasm.
- Be familiar with the territory and all competitive activities and report back to
- management regularly.
- Work closely the Sales Management and other sales and support personnel in the territory as a whole.
- Manage and allocate resources as necessary in team selling into strategic accounts.
- From time to time it may be necessary to provide support to customers on a temporary basis depending on the business situation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, chemistry or closely allied natural sciences course
- At least 5 years’ experience in high technology laboratory instrumentation preferentially computerized Gas Chromatographs, HPLC systems, Spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometers.
- Knowledge and experience in sales and conducting business in the East Africa territory would be an advantage.
- Sales experience and a proven sales record in the sales of laboratory instrumentation are highly recommended
- Negotiating skills, persuasiveness and outgoing personality
