Job profile:
The General Manager will manage several departments search as Production, Quality, Finance and Logistic, HR and operations makes sure that the company is viable with a defined and clear strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
The officer at this level will be responsible to the County Chief Officer of Agriculture.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with quality department to monitor the various aspects of food processing to ensure final product meets specifications;
- prepare and present periodic reports to update company management on food production operations;
- inspect food production equipment to ensure they are operational and in good working order for food processing;
- ensure compliers with both internal and external food production;
- oversee the hiring, training and development of food production personnel;
- maintain accurate inventory of raw materials;
- set production objectives and implement action plans for achieving set targets;
- Ensure manufacturing and processing staff wear appropriate sanitary and protective gear to ensure health and safety.
- Locate, select and procure merchandise for resale representing management in purchase negotiations.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of the production facility.
- Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with board members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Served for a minimum period of seven (7) years as a food production technologist and above or incomparable and relevant position in a reputable food processing company;
- bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, analytical chemistry or manufacturing engineering or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
- gained a wide experience and demonstrated professional competence and high administrative ability in food processing company;
- Master’s degree in food science or technology will be an added advantage;
- in possession of senior management course lasting of not less than four weeks;
- A clear understanding of the overall national goals, policies and development policies and ability to translate them into food processing and programmes.
