Duties and Responsibilities


The officer at this level will be responsible to the Managing Director of the company.


Quality Assurance manager makes sure that the food manufacturing process is safe by monitoring and controlling the production process from raw ingredient intake to packaging of finished products.


Specific duties and responsibilities include:



  • Setting customer service standards.

  • Determining, negotiating and agreeing on in-house quality producer’s standards and qualifications.

  • Specifying quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers.

  • Ensuring that manufacturing process comply with standards.

  • Encouraging change and improvement in performance and quality.

  • Directing objectives to maximize profitability.

  • To improve development and test processes so that defect doesn’t arise when the products’ is being developed.

  • Identify and rectify the defect in finished products.

  • Identifying and eliminating sources of quality problems to ensure that customer requirement are continually met.

  • Processing checklist.

  • Record keeping.

  • Process documentation and project audit.

  • Problem hunting and solving.

  • Ensuring high quality product is delivered to customers.

  • Controls supplies, raw materials, processes and finished product quality and safety.

  • Raw materials, packaging supply quality and documentation.


For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:



  • Served for a minimum period of five (5) years as assistant quality Assurance manager or incomparable and relevant position in a reputable food processing company;

  • bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;

  • gained a wide experience and demonstrated professional competence in food processing company;

  • Be in possession of senior management course lasting not less than four weeks;

  • Demonstrable knowledge in operations management shall be an added advantage.

  • A clear understanding of the overall national goals, policies and development policies and ability to translate them into food processing and programmes.
