Our client, Tea Research Foundation of Kenya (TRFK) is a State Corporation whose mandate is to promote research into and investigate all problems relating to tea throughout Kenya. The Director is the Chief Executive Officer and shall be responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall management and administration of the Foundation. Specifically, as the Foundation’s Chief Executive officer, he/she shall be responsible for the implementation of the Board’s decisions in a result oriented and resource prudent manner to add value to stakeholders and stakeholders’ equity.The Director will be the Chief Executive Officer and secretary to the Board.Be responsible for overall coordination and management of research and extension services in the Foundation.Recommend to the Board, strategic interventions on changing the scientific and technological environment, opportunities for product market development.Coordinate with relevant stakeholders on tea industry analysis, environmental impact assessment and data bank management.Promote leadership in the implementation of TRFK’s policies, plans and programmes as well as guiding the institution in fulfilling its role in implementation of Vision 2030 and Medium term plans.Negotiate, monitor and report the annual performance contract targets.Oversee the Foundation’s human resource and ensure that appropriate management structures and policies are developed and implemented.Formulate and implement best practices and management principles and ensure effective communication between different levels of the Foundation so as to promote ethnical practices and good corporate governance and citizenship.Formulate and implement effective financial and procurement policies, plans and procedures to spur profitability ¡n the Foundation.Develop and recommend to the Board the long term strategy, business plans, annual plans, annual operating budgets, establish proper internal monitoring, control systems and procedures.Promote a good corporate culture, ethics and communication within the FoundationMust have a PhD in a relevant agricultural science field from a recognized university. Experience in tea science will be an added advantage.Minimum ten (10) years research experience, five (5) of which must have been in a senior management position in a medium to a large sized Research organization.A proven track record in publishing in peer reviewed journals and demonstrable experience in innovation and products development.Knowledge and experience on tea and perennial crops issues and challenges in Kenya.Knowledge of government policies and regulations on financial management, public procurement and human resources management.A motivated, innovative and result-oriented team player.Ability to mobilize funding for research.Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.Send your application with a detailed CV with a daytime telephone contact and copies of certificates.
